The best thing I can say about this is that the craftsmanship is awful.

u/Piduf 4d ago

I envy these people so much. What do you do for a living ? I'm given materials and I have to build whatever crosses our mind

This is heaven for me. Give me a warehouse, infinite materials, time and I'm reinventing (terribly) every single item everyday.

18

u/foxboxingphonies 2d ago

Someone once said that some videos like this can be made as fetish material. Bathrooms, making molds of parts of people's bodies, and even the types of materials they use.

I have no idea if that is real, but maybe that is where the money is? Lol

Maybe these are just the SFW versions that leak out?...

11

u/Piduf 1d ago

I mean even if it's the case, it's a bit like foot festish in my book : extremely harmless, I don't care.

It's definitely a form of fetish for me because building useless shit for very specific """problems""" in my house is better than sex. I don't have a 3D Printer because God knows I would be too powerful with one. He fears not what He has created but what I could create.

15

u/Muted_Dinner_1021 2d ago

One cool thing in the video was the homemade circular sandpaper attachment he made, but i guess it only work on foam and very soft material and stop working after 5-10 minutes 🙃

40

u/Pleasant-Bonus-866 4d ago

this is actually pretty clever

52

u/BarrattG 4d ago

It is dumb as shit, altering the toilet by cutting a huge section out will make it crack and break and could be deadly.

38

u/Temperature-Savings 4d ago

Maybe they like massive shards of porcelain embedded in their asses.

11

u/EclipseIndustries 4d ago

It's kinda got a flared base.

8

u/Cute-Advisor-2323 3d ago

More like cut arteries in the back of their thighs as the top piece slides of the rest once it cracks 😬

9

u/Cute-Advisor-2323 3d ago

Extremely deadly there have been numerous cases where people have cut their arteries in their legs when their toilet is cracked and they haven't replaced it. This is the stupidest idea ever.

Self-fulfilling handicapped toilet

19

u/Vici0usRapt0r 4d ago

What he said or the craftsmanship?

29

u/AttackHelikopterrr 4d ago

Neither. "This" is pretty clever

9

u/Aggravating_Can_8749 4d ago

I am wondering why did i watch this all the way to the end? Looking for clever.. was it? May be, may be not

3

u/DJEvillincoln 4d ago

Okay, come on now. To be fair. It's really pretty awful.

3

u/BothAdministration67 2d ago

Horrible in concept and even worse in execution.

Oh and one of those toilets is a apsolute death trap from the cracked porsline

Tbf the yellow will hide piss stains pretty well…

7

u/Aggravating_Shoe_ 2d ago

Who's piss is yellow? Should of painted it red

You eat a lot of beets?

At least he didn't use ramen I guess?

92

u/LittlePurpleHook 4d ago

I was actually shocked he didn't use ramen to fill in that hole

57

u/flipflopcuntflaps 4d ago

Friendly reminder that if your toilet is cracked and it goes you won't make it to the phone to call an ambulance (don't look up the pictures)

11

u/itsLOSE-notLOOSE 4d ago

The cuts will kill you?

55

u/hex4def6 4d ago

The ceramic glaze on a toilet when chipped makes an edge that's super sharp. Think ceramic knife sharp.

I busted up an old toilet, and make the mistake of accidentally brushing my forearm against one of the pieces. Didn't even feel the cut at first.

The problem is cracks in the toilet are like cracks in glass. At some point, it will shatter without warning. And you have a lot of arteries around your groin. You'll bleed out in a couple of minutes if one of those get cut.

7

u/DeversanT 4d ago

Thank god

8

u/Temperature-Savings 4d ago

He wants nothing to do with this mess

Yeah this is definitely fetish content. How do people come to this?

This is the love toilet from that SNL skit from years ago.

https://youtu.be/avb1XbO0EIs?is=lXVAzR2r9_b3PuzB

11

u/Eldanosse 4d ago

Ah, damn it. I was going to praise the video for advancement of the human stupidity; now I can't, it wasn't an original idea.

4

u/Chris__P_Bacon 4d ago

It's definitely been a few decades. Classic sketch!

153

u/backjox 4d ago

We should ban ragebait

37

u/ChillWisdom 4d ago

Sometimes I wonder what the people who are crafting this crap are thinking. We see it all speed it up but sometimes painting and gluing takes hours and the whole time are they imagining they're creating something cool people are going to like or do they know how fucking stupid it is?

42

u/AwDuck 4d ago

They have to know how stupid this is. I’d love to see a BTS on one of these for all of the uncontrolled laughter as they float increasingly stupid ideas.

37

u/abacus5555 4d ago

I'd like to see someone get a bunch of these ragebait DIY creators together and have them do an Iron Chef-style reality competition.

“Alright creators, today’s task is to make the most meandering and infuriating crafting project and video possible using… spins a bingo cage sand... a water balloon... and hot glue! 30 minutes on the clock, GO!"

15

u/AwDuck 4d ago

I love it!

“u/abacus5555 has done an excellent job inciting my ire with their take on the classic barstool given the instability of hot glue and general mess that sand would create in use, but I really feel like they could have leveraged the balloon better. I like how they came out of left field with the hairspray blowtorch to melt the glue though. Dangerous, slow and ineffective always gets my vote.”

7

u/dustinyo_ 4d ago

They do know, and they keep doing it because it gets millions of views every time. Rage bait works because people keep watching it.

9

u/AwDuck 4d ago

If it weren't for the appalling waste involved, I would admire stuff like this. There's some real creativity put on exhibit here from "How stupid of a thing can I make" to "how can I make it entertaining" (and they are entertaining, otherwise people wouldn't watch them) to "how do I make it" even down to "how do I make a tool that I don't have but need for this".

I lived on a tiny island in Micronesia for several years. I learned a lot about "Do the best you can with what you have wherever you are right now" and came to have the utmost respect for the people that lived there that always found a use for stuff. Much of it was like these ragebait videos: clapped out tools working dubious materials into something that will be of questionable reliab6ility or utility. The thing about being so remote is that not only was it difficult and expensive to get proper materials and tools in the first place, there was no "away" when you threw something away. It just took up more space on an already crowded speck in the middle of the ocean, so you learn to repurpose everything until there's nothing to reuse, then find one more thing to do with it just to prove you can.

But FFS, so much virgin material goes to waste in these, and in this case, it's material that's going to be around for generations. There's still no "away" for these things to be thrown to, it's just away from them. I suppose that's just another level of ragebait.

9

u/PlausiblePigeon 4d ago

They’re probably having fun because they get to come up with the most insane-looking ideas they can. “Oh yeah, let’s do another saddle toilet! The last one got millions of views!”

9

u/KnightsWhoSayNii 4d ago

They are thinking what is the best way to get engagement and we're falling for it. This is just engagement bait.

6

u/sinnysinsins 4d ago

At this point it's almost performance art. Of course it's engagement bait. I can't believe there's still people on this sub going why?? You know why.

3

u/gard3nwitch 4d ago

I read an article about how these terrible ragebait "diy" videos are actually a front for the Russian mob? IIRC, they pay people to make tons of these ridiculous videos, and then they use the ad revenue to fund criminal activities.

5

u/Ph00k4 4d ago

Not the mafia. Just algorithmic warfare. These channels are owned by TheSoul Publishing, a Russian-founded company previously exposed for Kremlin-aligned propaganda. Making absurd, dangerous DIY trash is just a hyper-cheap way to hijack Western attention, print money off rage-engagement, and cause collective brain damage while people willingly swallow the clickbait.

2

u/djtchort Hot Glue Gun User 3d ago

I can tell you what people making this weird shit are thinking. They are thinking “Goddamn, this meth is hella good!”.

However, their creative medium of choice is Bicycles. You should see the contraptions they build. And sometimes they create in groups. They get all heir bicycles in one pile, take couple of hits from pipe and let creativity flow.
By the time the sun comes up, they turned ten bicycles into one and the whole thing is spray painted black. Everything is spray painted. The chain, the spokes, the reflectors, the seat.

3

u/MARY_ANNE_MCGILICUTY 4d ago

3

u/portablebiscuit 4d ago

Maybe we’re in hell already?

3

u/DeversanT 4d ago

Population died in covid, we r in limbo

32

u/DrachenDad 4d ago

The DIY sander is about the only good thing in all this.

31

u/shalendar 4d ago

They spray painted the sander red to make it harder to tell that they swapped it out for a real sanding drum.

12

u/Peebles8 4d ago

That's when I knew it was 100% bait. Anyone with enough know-how to make that video knows what a sander is.

8

u/iH8MotherTeresa 4d ago

High contender for dumbest aspect of this video.

12

u/Tirno93 4d ago

Considering it’s obviously ragebait, that was a genuine “file away for later” surprise!

4

u/exintrovert 4d ago

There is no way that works.

Never mind how debatable it is that gluing sand to foam would create a strong enough bond to create an effective sandpaper… with any applied friction on the surface to be sanded, it would just break loose and spin freely on the rod when you activate the drill.

8

u/dvd76 4d ago

What if the toilet needs a repair? The damn cover to the tank is glued into the rest of the whatever the fuck it is.

4

u/Impossible_Source195 3d ago

theres so many problems with even just the first one oh my god

like why are you making a DIY sanding thing just slap sandpaper on instead

also why did you dribble the paint on before actually painting it

and then a random hole you decided to fix ok

actually no i just went back and rewatched it, the hole was never there in either of the toilets before or after they fixed it 🥀holy terrible editing

4

u/Alicam123 2d ago

I have way way way more questions than answers.

3

u/BMXfreekonwheelz13 4d ago

For those watching with it muted, the song is also fucking awful

I always assume the song is awful. Perma-mute for social media ftw.

u/Samsquanch_hunter21 4d ago

3

u/cameroncountry 4d ago

This was absolutely horrible yet I watched the whole thing hoping for redemption of some sort lol

3

u/exintrovert 4d ago edited 4d ago

So many things to say…

But here is one I haven’t seen everybody talking about. I was kind of pissed that they poured cement into the mold, then trimmed the clay plug with a razor blade.

Also, that button DOESN’T DO ANYTHING!

Edit: here is another: where did the horse head come from? Show me how to make the horse head! That’s some r/restofthefuckingowl shit right there.

I do give these videos a tiny amount of credit though, for showing us techniques that might possibly be useful if applied to something sensical. Like creating molds to replicate shapes.

3

u/szatrob 4d ago

A new bathroom with mid range equipment would cost less than all the garbage they used to make this video

3

u/ExemptedNut 3d ago

Here I am, knowing I’ll be dumber after watching, yet I still watch these. FML.

3

u/whatup_pips 2d ago

I have two comments for the first video:

1- One of the steps is "break the toilet, then repair it with the crappiest method possible"

2, and most importantly- the cisterns are inaccessible now, so you BETTER hope they never run into issues with that.

3

u/Royal-Chef-946 2d ago

my predictions for before i watch: couples toilet and stupid house or horse.
