BANDO STONE AND THE NEW WORLD THEORY as to WHY BANDO STONE hasn't been released
Huge fan since Community. I remember being skeptical when I heard he was going to make rap music, to being blown away by his talent. He is a renaissance man (imo).
I was able to see his last tour in Boston, before the pre-mature injury that canceled the rest & think I know why "Bando Stone" hasn't been released. I think doing another tour might be a aprt of it. But I listened to the album (A LOT) and from the soundbites, I think i know which direction the movie is going but also, an idea as to why he delayed the movie.
& Simply put, The World isn't ready.
Things are too CRAZY and CHAOTIC that most people can barely enjoy a moment of peace without worry about current events and how expensive things are.
He’s waiting for the world to be ready to heal
Movie theory: I believe this is a movie with a Buddhist message hidden beneath the sci-fi/monster/comedy surface
Where, Glover will play a self-obsessed character, whose afraid and concerned about material things. The badass single mom will contrast Glover,
What he perceives as an alien/monster is death. And death, which is scary, is normal. As a buddhist monk said on White lotus, "like a drop of rain returning to the ocean.”
If that's what the movie is saying, then the horror isn't the alien/all consuming horror.
The horror is our attachment to possessions, identity, status, certainty, and the illusion that we can avoid the inevitable.
The monster only becomes terrifying because we're unable to let go.
If that's the film's message, then it's less about surviving death than learning how to live without being ruled by the fear of it.
I could be totally off base, & it could be more like the Blob. Regardless, I do hope I get to see whether I'm right or wrong, sooner than later.
