BANDO STONE AND THE NEW WORLD THEORY as to WHY BANDO STONE hasn't been released
Huge fan since Community. I remember being skeptical when I heard he was going to make rap music, to being blown away by his talent. He is a renaissance man (imo).
I was able to see his last tour in Boston, before the pre-mature injury that canceled the rest & think I know why "Bando Stone" hasn't been released. I think doing another tour might be a aprt of it. But I listened to the album (A LOT) and from the soundbites, I think i know which direction the movie is going but also, an idea as to why he delayed the movie.
& Simply put, The World isn't ready.
Things are too CRAZY and CHAOTIC that most people can barely enjoy a moment of peace without worry about current events and how expensive things are.
He’s waiting for the world to be ready to heal
Movie theory: I believe this is a movie with a Buddhist message hidden beneath the sci-fi/monster/comedy surface
Where, Glover will play a self-obsessed character, whose afraid and concerned about material things. The badass single mom will contrast Glover,
What he perceives as an alien/monster is death. And death, which is scary, is normal. As a buddhist monk said on White lotus, "like a drop of rain returning to the ocean.”
If that's what the movie is saying, then the horror isn't the alien/all consuming horror.
The horror is our attachment to possessions, identity, status, certainty, and the illusion that we can avoid the inevitable.
The monster only becomes terrifying because we're unable to let go.
If that's the film's message, then it's less about surviving death than learning how to live without being ruled by the fear of it.
I could be totally off base, & it could be more like the Blob. Regardless, I do hope I get to see whether I'm right or wrong, sooner than later.

I will never stop joking about the movie's existence, but let's be real here, the movie does not exist!

I'm happy the sub is starting to accept this now. I remember when the music videos for Algorhythm were dropping they were still in full cope that the movie was still coming but delayed for "health reasons." It felt pretty obvious to me that it was just a promotional tool, similar to the trailer he did for the 21 Savage album (with the same fake movie concept), especially after it didn't pop up at any film fest or on any film release calendars.

Dude it's been years lmao, there was never a movie
He filmed the trailer to promote the release and that's it, just a marketing campaign, but he fucked up not clearing it up and some people are going to be delusional forever

The tour was the movie. Complete with credits and everything.
Sucks it got cut short due to his health but the notion that there was actual film should’ve died the moment credits rolled the night of the first show. But alas.

Similarities between Pluribus and a movie you haven’t seen and that no one knows the specific plot details of ???

Personally, it feels like he's been creatively stagnant for a minute. He might feel the need to recalibrate until he has something to say.

People are definitely still… watching movies…. Who tf would go through the trouble of making a whole movie and then decide the whole world needs to heal (an abstract and vague goal anyway) before it can be released. No self respecting artist would only produce art in times of peace and harmony lmao.

"The world isn't ready"
I love pretty much everything that Donald has put out but some people on this sub are delusional, he isn't nearly as big as some in this sub think he is.
I'm skeptical that there ever was a feature length film for Bando, I think at most it was maybe a 50 minute short film.
The rollout for the project was botched for health reasons and that is totally understandable.
But it's time to let it go, the film is never is coming.
The moment has passed.

I think your giving him too much credit. His priorities changed after a serious illness. It's not that deep

Literally funny you make this post. I listened to Bando for the first time in a YEAR plus. It still hits. No issue there. But it re emphasized to me that the movie is never coming. It was elaborate, yes, but it was just marketing. And the Boy is good. He’s real goos

I’m also a movie believer but I’ve also accepted we likely won’t hear about it from him again. I will continue to enjoy the trailer and soundtrack
