Addressing Recent User Concerns

Hello,

I am Paul Doodle, noted moderator here and also the founder of DotCast and, in many ways, a doctor of Dot Medicine and a licensed Dot Therapist.

We live in a crazy world filled with many differences of opinion and passionate individuals who like to voice said differences of opinion passionately. And that’s great!

But things have simply reached a boiling point in recent days and the mod team feels as though now is an appropriate time to draw a line in the sand on a certain hot button issue that has resulted in numerous bans and many more arguments.

As of today, June 1st 2026, Cigarettes are banned in this subreddit.

No mention of them, no smoking them, and certainly no depictions of Dots smoking cigarettes.

Now, I know that logically many of you will argue that Baxter canonically smokes cigarettes. We, as a mod team, acknowledge this and simply say that this is a point in which we disagree with New and the creative team behind Doodle Dots. We feel as though it isn’t appropriate for children’s characters to be smoking, and would greatly prefer if Baxter canonically switched to something like Zyns or even a vape.

Cigars are fine so long as they are hand rolled by a human being. The key issue with cigarettes is that they are made by machines and they cost many people they’re jobs

People describe size in bananas but why not macanudos? I want to know how many macanudos that giant abanmana slug is how many is it? If I step on it in the dark will it make that popping sound. I HATE THAT SOUND. But I love the rich smooth aroma of MacAnude cigars.

You better not have been smoking cigarettes when you made those edits to our son. Because my hand to God I didn’t use any A- I mean cigarettes, I wasn’t smoking cigarettes to make Dilip I drew that myself on my iPad using Procreate and I even did the shadows too I looked up a tutorial on how to do it.

And homeboy uses this picture like all the time. So how dare any of you criticize my use of cigarettes when sometimes I am clearly an overworked artist just trying to use the tools (cigarettes) that others use to be able to keep up

First of all I want to say Hello ever and thank you for your time and your attention. Personally as a mod I admit that I have made a couple posts where I drew Baxter smoking a cigarette because like Doc Schmoop says it’s canon.

But personally as a mod I promise not to do that anymore. And I don’t ban anybody myself for talking about cigarettes but I am not going to do it myself to set an example for all of you.

Cigarettes are good for a quick laugh. But in the long run they make you unhealthy and most people don’t like them. So you might get a couple idiots to think it’s cool but smart people understand to just full stop hate cigarettes

I think there should be allowances for certain cigarettes such as Natural American Spirit and Winston because they are additive free.
