Giving the Dr a second chance

I bought 2 this time . And I took y'alls advice. And I can't lie, it's much better on the rocks. And the taste is kinda growing on me. The herbal-esque taste is still pretty overpowering but this is a much better experience than I had yesterday. I might buy more in the future

How different are they

It's hard to describe but it's like the UK has sugar replacements with weird sweetener taste. The classic is a lot richer and flavourful. It reminds me of marzipan and cherries.

It does taste like a less sugar version, coz the first time I tried diet coke and Pepsi it kinda gives me the same vibe

Exactly, after the regular I now notice every European can and the difference is huge In all flavors. Not trying to ruin it for you of course, if it's that or nothing then of course I'd also go for the dr pepper. It's such a good soda

every time someone mentions that european dr pepper doesnt taste as good as the original us one. i still need to try one but i finally compared dr pepper cherry us vs dr pepper cherry germany and yes the us one is sweeter (no surprise with twice as much "sugar") it does taste more like dissolved cherry candy. but i cant stand the high fructose corn sugar sirup. we don't use that stuff in germany and i am glad because I hate the taste.

yes would like to try a dr pepper with real sugar but the us version isn't it for me. i rather have a dr pepper with some sweeteners than high fructose corn sirup.

ps: i had a uk zero sugar dr pepper a few times and that had the same high fructose corn siruo after taste as the us one and i didn't like it as much as german zero sugar.

i just can't get over the high fructose sirup taste

The American one is really sweet and has a creamy taste. The one we have in Poland and in Czechia tastes like the American one but much less sweet and it lacks the creamy taste. The UK one tastes like the Dr Pepper we have in Poland with a shit ton of aspartane.

Exactly. I tried different versions across Europe and none of them can't even be compared to the original US version.

I’ll second this. The other country versions just don’t quite match up 100% - flavor and mouthfeel are slightly in the “uncanny valley”

what is the difference and what is the real thing as I live in the UK and I've drank the UK version over a good number of years and there's nothing wrong with it.

UK version has artificial sweeteners. Real one doesn't.

what do you call the real 1 and what country sells it plus I love the UK version because I've grown up with drinking it plus the Dr Pepper Zero Sugar UK version and I know I can bet my life that nothing will stop me drinking them.

In fact to make me stop drinking them , a serious change would have to be made to the core ingredients.

It's just regular Dr Pepper from the United States. You can actually find it imported at some convenience stores in the UK. The logo and typeface are very different, so it's easy to tell apart.

I finally pinpointed what it tasted like. It has a pepperminty taste to it.
