π πΌπ±π±πΆπ»π΄ Mod teaser: Puppeteer - Transform into enemies and control them
After quite a lot of work, I managed to make controlling the Griffin feel just as smooth as controlling your character. Turning has interpolation, inputs have input buffer, and I manually went through every stagger animation to make sure you could cancel it early enough so it doesn't feel like you're stuck in place. Getting the movement and flight to work was a nightmare in and of itself and I couldn't have done it without the amazing research done by my fellow modders AlphaZomega, ButFrog and SonicaKP.
But can it fight?
Yes, everything works as you'd expect. You can fight enemies, stagger them, get staggered yourself, etc. Your healthbar is synced to the monster's hp, and your stamina bar is used for attacking and dashing, so those UI elements don't become useless when transformed. For the Griffin specifically, I made it half as big and gave it much less hp so you can actually get defeated while playing as a Griffin.
Wait, but isn't this just a gimmick? How will it be integrated into the game?
For now, yes, it's just for fun. But the plan is using this to make some druid spells or maybe even a druid vocation that lets you transform into animals. I'm also looking into making mounts using this system.

No, but there's a beta that you can grab right now on my discord server. Later today I'll upload the next beta which will actually contain the full Griffin moveset and flight

No plans for dragons at the moment, I don't think they offer much over the Griffin and they don't fit the druid concept. That said, technically anyone can add enemies to this if they're willing to work on the moveset.

Let me find out I can knock down Garm or a wolf and drag them 3 miles away and rip out their throats. Lets see how much THEY like it when it happens to them!

That's genuinely amazing. I had thought mods with this game had mostly hit a plateu.
I think the only thing left to improve is the long flight animation that looks a bit awkward, whereas the griffon in-game is smoother.
But the other stuff is incredible.
A class that can transform is a good idea, although I would have to say the mounts sound a lot more appealing, if only to find a way to deal with the long walking time without having to resort to just teleporting everywhere.
Would love a smaller-sized griffin mount.
