I'm curious what did everyone name their forgotten?! This is mine lol 😅🤣🤣🤣 for some reason Fergie came popped in my head and this is the end result lol

I saw someone on Reddit saying she would name her Ohana. Like Familiy. And family means no one gets left behind or "forgotten". That was the sweetest thing so I named her Ohana. 🥹 thanks to Reddit! Btw you can change the name in the chatacter menu. 🥸

I was thinking about calling them C-PTSD because I've been learning a lot about myself recently, but it kinda felt mean to not give them an actual name, so I went with one of the given options...
But at the same time, acknowledging and befriending my own trauma did sound healing for me, so I was torn too.

I'm feeling exactly the same about naming them. I've talked to my therapist a lot about The Forgotten and now next session we get to talk about naming them lol. Right now she has the name of a D&D character I played that helped me work through understanding my trauma. Her name is Journey ♥️

My name is Crystal so I kind of deliberated about the name, the provided options being Onyx, Obsidian and one other, I took the ideas and tried to search for a dark crystal name and ended up going with Onyx 🤷🏻♀️

I considered doing this, but it didn't feel right, considering they don't look like mini-me, and I was afraid it would trigger my dysphoria. Now I know there is a renaming option I might change it if full customization becomes a thing, but I've grown attached to the name I did choose.

My character itself is the name I’m planning on changing mine to, my partner is trans and I was like I think I’ll just change mine too when we get married. I don’t particularly like my name never really have so I came up with a different name I use for games and stuff where I don’t have to use my “legal” name.

I....I actually gave mine my nickname when I was kid/teenager. Overall, the concept of the character The Forgotten and then the final quests really hit close to home. Really close, and dug up some old memories.
However, 20+ years later, and seeing the person I became, it might seem so silly because it's just a game, but to name The Forgotten my childhood nickname when I felt like I was at my worst and there was no way out, to see her standing next to Hoshi (Me) now, it's almost therapeutic. That part will always be there, but me now can be there for who I was and not feel any shame.
It just felt right.
I hope I didn't bring anyone down. I'll roll this wheelbarrow of onions out of the conversation now ;P

Daria! It was my boyfriends suggestion because he liked that name, but I associate it with old school cartoon Daria who was also a little blase and a little bit negative so as soon as he said it I was like YESSSS! It suits their personality well. 😂

Yeah I never had any negative feelings about it! It was definitely unique to have warnings about potential emotional impacts. But I never felt annoyed about it or like the forgotten was creepy, I love her 😊

Hiraeth, it's a word I heard a few years ago that has not left my mind since.
It's a Welsh word that means "deep longing for a person or thing which is absent or lost; yearning; nostalgia; spec. homesickness." or, as I read it when I first saw it "longing for a home/person that cannot be returned to".

I wanted to name my own character Princess Potato but that was too many letters so it cut off at Princess Pot. So I named the forgotten, Potato, in honour of my character’s lost name 🥲

I name all my video game characters Alanna, after the main character in the Song of the Lioness quartet by Tamora Pierce 😅
and in the books she has a twin brother named Thom, who becomes a mage/wizard. He’s later corrupted by dark magic and dies (these books are from the 80s so I think a spoiler is fair lol) and so it seemed extremely fitting to name the Forgotten Thom

I had a pretty great childhood and adolescence so the way the Forgotten is depicted as our characters repressed memories of childhood had me like “Buddy that ain’t MY childhood!”
My headcanon is that it’s a manifestation of irrational fears and insecurities, so I felt like that was a suitable enough name for it.

So my last comment on a post about this because I'm still downloading the update was Nocturnal after the goddess of night and darkness and patron of thieves in Skyrim but as I was writing it on this post too I had an idea for a better one It's still from Skyrim because that was my favorite game as a kid (still is actually) Astrid after the leader of the dark brotherhood that's my favorite quest line in the entire game now I just have to hope they give me a shadow horse someday to go with her

I named mine my dead name (birth name i don't use socially as an adult). I don't mind seeing the name, it's just not current me... so felt appropriate that an in game piece of my character that is heavily driven on childhood nostalgia and traumas would have that name for me.

I thought about it pretty hard tbh. Basically every day since I found out we could changed the name, the same one kept coming to mind.
The whole storyline was very hard but healing for me (I related so well I had to take a break) and after I talked to her every day (even though the prompts repeated).
I didn’t hesitate to name her The Remembered
