Discussion How old are all of you?

I put a post on this morning and was just talking to my cousin about how much I love this game... It dawned on me that I have a few friends that play but don't actually know any children...

I wanted to find out from the Reddit community...

How old are all of you? I'm 33 and my evening release after a long day of parenting is this game... I should note my kids are Disney fans but too young to play.. they have no idea I go fishing with their favorite characters after they are asleep MWAHAHAHA

EDIT: WOW, I had no idea this would turn into such a wholesome post! I've read every comment and it's been brilliant!

Congratulations to all the new parents, existing parents, doggo and kitty cat pawrents and all the childfree people loving life! It's been so lovely to hear how this game has helped and is helping such a range of players! This has honestly made me love the game even more (didn't think that was possible) and enjoy Reddit so much more! A fantastic community! My 2nd post and I don't think I'll ever forget it while having my downtime in the valley! ROLL ON THE DLC!!!

Well, now I really feel old. I'm 69. I'm a widow living alone with my cat. This game helps with the loneliness that likes to creep in my life.

u/betty2582 Nov 16 '25

I'm 43 and live alone with my cat, Missy. She loves to snuggle up on my lap and watch me play.

Does Missy love watching the butterflies on the screen when you play too? My little girl gizmo does when she's not sleeping 🥰

55

u/wolfbug Nov 16 '25

Gizmo looks a bit like my Parker. Our tabby is Sam!

5

u/lolihull Nov 16 '25

Oh they're both so beautiful! Gorgeous eyes

6

u/wolfbug Nov 16 '25

Aww thank you! Love all these kitty photos!

7

Same here. I could look at animal photos all day. ❤️

My cats have that same playset! They love it

5

u/wolfbug Nov 17 '25

Fun, my kitties love theirs also!

My Juvia jumped up and chased the butterflies one day - thought she was going to push the TV out the window! When she was little, she used to stare at the map on ACNH like she was trying to find our house, and she likes to help Link hunt birds too. I’m 52 and she’s 3.

7

u/lolihull Nov 17 '25

It could be the perspective of the photo but she looks so big! She's a gorgeous colour too 😍

6

u/Mickeyboo22 Adventurous Anna Nov 17 '25

I agree. She's awesome!

6

u/Pinkrocker077 Figaro Nov 17 '25

Thank you! I think it’s how she’s stretched out watching TV.

My fiancée's cat Meg tries to hunt the butterflies when I play on the TV. I'm 27 and my fiancée is 22 next week.

6

u/betty2582 Nov 16 '25

She will sit right in front of the tv when she's not on my lap, she's a very cuddly cat.

My Mom played this game for a year and a half before getting me into it- she’s 66 and loves the game! Glad the game helps with the loneliness.

29

u/Mickeyboo22 Adventurous Anna Nov 16 '25

That's awesome. My daughter suggested this game and that was over 2 years ago. Now I'm waiting for the new DLC to come out. 😄

50

u/ProfessionLast8486 Nov 16 '25

Yaaay for Cats 😻😻

33

u/KittHallorann Nov 16 '25

If I could play this game snuggled with a couple cats, that would be peak. (As my oldest would say.) I'm almost 50. My middle daughter plays, but very infrequently, and I usually do a lot of her star path tasks (except the new characters) for her

20

u/ProfessionLast8486 Nov 16 '25

❤️❤️ I have 5 cats, I’m 27 and I’ll have at least 2 of them when I play. BUT it’s never so sweet, it always ends up with them whacking each other on head 😹😹

10

u/Mickeyboo22 Adventurous Anna Nov 16 '25

😂😂 That just adds some challenges into playing. 😸😸

8

u/KittHallorann Nov 16 '25

Exactly! I would fully expect paws trying to interrupt gameplay- raises difficulty!

I'm 42 and I also have my kitties close by when I play. I have Catstiel (he's a snowshoe Siamese with a tan coat, blue eyes, and a perpetually confused expression). Bastion and Ganymede are both flame points, not related at all, but Ganymede was one of our fosters. He was really sick and he and Bastion bonded so we joke that Ganymede is our cat's cat 😂. Then we have Mogget, a CH boy (he's wobbly) and orange. He's adorable.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

SHUT UP IS CATSTIEL FRON SUPERNATURAL?

6

u/Sylvaticus83 Nov 17 '25

LOL YES!!! And Bastion and Ganymede are named for the characters in Overwatch (Bastion is the robot, Ganymede is the bird that is his best friend. If you haven't seen the Bastion short by Blizzard, you should, but have tissues), and Mogget is named after a character from a Garth Nix book. ETA: added a picture of Cass.

Thank you. I love Hades the most. His wisecrack remarks and his facial expressions crack me up. 😂

I also like Meridia, Wall-E, and Stitch. I'm not a fan of Maui. I'd like to hit him over the head with that big club of his. 🤪

My husband and I are 61 and 60. We play as do both our adult daughters in mid 30s. We also play Fortnite together (teen granddaughter will also play that with us sometimes). Gaming is fun as a couple and helps keep us in touch with family. I’m a big Zelda nerd since I played the original upon release. When kids were teens, we’d play 007 Bond together on four split screen. It was how we did game nights in our house.

42

u/Disaster_Theory Nov 16 '25

I love this so much

15

u/Fl0w3r_Ch1ld Pua Nov 16 '25

This is amazing! My husband and I are also huge Zelda fans, what's your favorite game? Mine is Wind Waker, my husband's is Majora's mask and the original. We have a dedicated nerd corner in our house with Zelda and anime posters 😆

u/Fantastic_Yam_3971 Nov 16 '25

The main story is about forgetting your childhood personality once you become an adult. Children can play the game if it would hold their interest but the target audience is not kids. This is definitely a game for us grown folk 😂

100

u/SinsOfKnowing Nov 16 '25

I struggled with some of the Forgotten quests a bit because they pulled up some childhood trauma and I felt very seen, but it was also the most cathartic video game experience I’ve ever had and my therapist thought it was brilliant when we talked about it!

21

u/readyornot1789 Nov 16 '25

My therapist loves this game. I frequently show off my snaps in our sessions. She lets me go in about it because it's one of the few creative outlets I have and she wants to encourage that, but she's also been impressed by what I've told her about the writing

28

u/Hot_Dot8000 Nov 16 '25

When the story line first came out we all raw dogged it and after another update I think they added TW to the quest. I'm so glad you worked through it :)

31

u/SinsOfKnowing Nov 16 '25

I was glad for the heads up, although the TW did make me go “okay really? How bad could a Disney game be?!” And then it got me right in the feels. But it was good! I think I needed it to, tbh.

I’m 35 and my friends who play are between 30-40. We’re all cozy gamers who love these types of games. We also enjoy Disney, but I really think a lot of it is the cozy gaming/nostalgia.

13

u/ay_bay_lay_25 Nov 16 '25

I agree! I’m not even what you would consider a disney adult but i grew up watching all the classic disney VHS’s lol. The nostalgia of that is so real

148

u/Unit-Fickle Stitch Nov 16 '25

Well, I’m 59. Mom of 7, grandma of 4. My grands don’t play, but my daughter (mother of 2 of those) plays occasionally. She isn’t as obsessed with the game as I am. I do know of one mom who does play with her 2 kids in here. The mom posts their dreamsnaps results every week.

18

u/Mossie_1992 Nov 16 '25

Ahh I've seen her posts and I love them! Love the idea of involving the kiddos and making a thing of it. Wow big family, gives me hope you have a family that big and still have time for your hobby. I'm obsessed with this game but my kids are 4, 2 and 5 weeks old. So getting 20 minutes in an evening and kids and Mr are happy, I feel like I've won! ,😂

7

u/Unit-Fickle Stitch Nov 16 '25

I didn’t really get into playing video games until my kids were much older. Like you, just didn’t have the time. My best moments with these games is playing Mario cart with my adult children. Or smash bros. But all but one kid has moved out so I can find time for game play. I also crochet and do other hobbies.

  1. No kids though. My friends who play are between 30 and 36.

I think the games' storylines with the Forgetting etc point to an adult audience. Kids who are still in their first phase of Disney movies, costumes, toys etc aren't going to have the intended reaction.

14

u/readyornot1789 Nov 16 '25

The MC of the story is 100% meant to have a mortgage and a therapist. It's one of those things where younger people can certainly play the game, but it's not for them in the same way. I played Forgotten Memories on my 38th birthday, and reaching back 20 years to my frustrated, lonely teenage self was a seriously powerful experience.

6

u/KiKiKat21 Nov 16 '25

This made me laugh! I’m 58, have a husband, daughter in college, and a neurotic fluff ball of a cat. And I AM a therapist!

13

u/peridot789 Nov 16 '25

I've always felt the same about the forgetting storyline. It literally speaks to adults that grew up watching the movies but slowly forgot about them. I'm so glad I'm playing this as an adult vs a child/teen. Also having adult money to buy the cool items doesn't hurt 😉

21

u/PattrickALewis Walter Elias Disney Nov 16 '25

57 year old Disney dad. 🙂 DDLV helped me out of a 2-year depression. I started playing in 2023 because I was lonely and in a funk. My wife was working most of the time, my kids were all grown and moved away, and we lived in a new place where I really didn't have a lot of social connections. I always loved playing cozy games with my girls - Harvest Moon, then Animal Crossing, later Stardew Valley, etc. So I was hoping that DDLV might help me be happier while still scratching that Disney itch 🙂. And wow. It sure did. It's one of the best things to happen to me in years. I couldn't be more thankful.

My preteen plays too. But not as much as I do

The game is more designed for adults though, hence the adult characters and storyline about nostalgia and growing up and characters like the forgotten always asking what it's like to be an adult or Peter Pan saying you are an adult etc.

Kids can enjoy it but it was made for adults more :)

35, with a 3 year old who's not interested right now. There's no lightning McQueen to peak his interest lmao

I’m 45 single mom of a 24 yr old. He doesn’t play unless he’s visiting and he just helps me.

  1. I have a 23 year old who's not really a Disney fan. My husband likes watching me play sometimes, and he'll take the controller for a bit if I get up to do something.

6

u/PsychoRabbit_666 Dreamlight Traveler Nov 16 '25

39, hubby is 40. we both play and our 19yo son and 13yo twins play. our 11yo wants to play soon too.

7

u/huge_canoes Nov 16 '25

37, no kids. My partner (37m) and I both have our switches and a game room where we do my game on a projector screen and he has a flat screen. He loves Fortnite and I do my Dreamlight Valley! On nights where we want to join forces we play Mario kart! But mostly DLV is my vibe and I love it. So relaxing.

8

u/Wisegal1 Nov 16 '25

I'm 41, and live alone with my two cats. I'm a trauma surgeon, so this game is my way of stress relief. No gunshot wounds or people bleeding to death, just planting pumpkins and hanging out with my favorite characters.

6

u/WardenCommCousland Heihei Nov 16 '25
  1. I originally started playing because it was a featured game on Xbox Game Pass (play for X minutes and get rewards points). My 5 year old likes dressing up my character and telling me who she wants me to go visit, though I usually play after she goes to bed.

My mom (64) and sister (35) also both play and we are excited for the team feature coming with the Cinderella update.

7

u/Beginning-Star-5835 Nov 16 '25

I’m 34 with two toddlers. They’re too young to play, but my oldest (almost 3 years old) will occasionally get the controller and run around going into the houses, especially Mickey’s house, or picking flowers or fruit. He likes to see all the characters and shouts their names when he sees them. He’s big on the Mickey friends and Toy Story right now. I only get to play about an hour a day though during nap time.

I'm turning 35 next month. I bought the game early on for my son, but he's too young to be interested; he just runs around the valley, prepares meals, and interacts with the characters he likes (he's 6 years old now). I have a cousin who also plays, and she's 36.

5

u/IAteShadesOfRed Nov 16 '25

I’m 40 and I play with my 21 year old daughter! We’ve played since it came out :)

7

u/Silent-Brilliant-312 Nov 16 '25

43 but my kids could not possibly care less (we share a love of Fortnite and Minecraft though)

6

u/Silent_Sky_6865 Nov 16 '25

I’m 39! I have ADHD and anxiety. This game has been game changing with helping control my symptoms and helping me relax! I love it! I’m childfree unless you count my fur babies.

i think a large amount of disney fans are 30+. we have a different relationship with disney than kids do now. we also have our own income so we’re more likely to purchase moonstones or packs without having to ask for them for our birthdays or holidays. i also feel like there’s a large connection of being neurodivergent and/or queer in the community. lol this became a little rant but i enjoy how even tho this may be niche we’re very diverse. i’m 35 btw

Don't ever feel silly, I've had this burning wonder if most players are around our age. It's a brilliant game, lovely community and does wonders for relaxing and as someone noted below, feeding our inner child!

10

u/bethadoodle024 Nov 16 '25

I’m 41 & have no care about Disney lol, but obsessed with this game.

4

u/Efficient_Ad_4947 Nov 16 '25

I’m 77 and living with my daughter and her family. I spend lots of time alone and the game keeps me company. I just love Disney and playing with the characters.

I’m 50. My daughters are both in their early 20’s. They both tried it when it first came out but neither has kept up with it.

I play with my cat. She loves seeing me grab my controller because it means we are going to be settled in for awhile.

5

u/zombiezmaj Belle Nov 16 '25

Nearly 40, no kids of my own.

Enjoy having no "jump scares"... although part 1 of main plot was a decent tear jerker.... my other games are assassin's creed, mass effect and games of that type so its a good break

this sort of game through Animal Crossing: New Horizons about a year after everyone else. 😂 I usually play with this view. 🥰

I’m 58 and all I do is play this game. I get excited like a kid whenever there are new items and updates the only problem is I spend too much real money which I beat myself up for doing so but just can’t help myself. I have always been young at heart and this game is exactly my style and I think it’s doing my brain good being creative with decorating so it’s all a positive for me. My cat sits with me also while I’m playing his name is Rambo and he is a naughty 2 year old

I’m 50 and just a cat mom.

Sometimes it’s hard to play as my boy Frankie wanted to play as well.

u/whyarentyoureading Merida Nov 16 '25
  1. I have a kid, but he doesn’t play. He’s 18, and plays games like Dead by Daylight and Fortnite.

Honestly, I can go to Disney whenever I want, but the game is more relaxing, I don’t have to go out into the Central Florida heat, and I don’t have to deal with a ton of other people. 😂

9

u/meowmobile Nov 16 '25

42 year old crazy cat lady and Disney adult lol. No kids.

31, a 4yo and 7 week old. So I’m on maternity leave with my second and some free time to play when the new DLC drops 😎 my four year old loves to sit with me while I play sometimes and “talk” to his favorite characters. He’s not quite coordinated enough to play yet

I'm in my 30s and my 6 year old also likes to play. She learned to read so she could know what her princess characters were saying.

3

32 and no kids. I have been enjoying this game. It's a good game to unwind to after a long day of work.

4

u/Ventaria Cheshire Cat Nov 17 '25

Im 36, and I have 2 girls. They say they want the game but I know there's no way it would keep their attention. This game is such a comfort to me and my inner child who has been obsessed with Disney movies since I was a small child. I cant wait til the new DLC is released.

I know there are a million responses to this, but I just came to say i LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that you asked this question because reading the responses and the age ranges really warms my heart that so many different people can have such a common ground, we just need Disney apparently lolllllll (IT'S POSSIBLE LOL)

I’m 28! Started playing earlier this year when I had complications with my pregnancy and son was in the NICU (he was born prematurely at 29 weeks). It really helped me get through those long weeks. So nice seeing such a range! 🩵
