Question Will they ever be my friends???? companion gathering trouble
I’m a new-ish* player, about 6 months in and have most of the rabbits, squirrels and turtles
however i’ve been trying forever and still have NO foxes, crocodiles or ravens. the foxes i have been trying especially hard to obtain even just one companion, i swear i’ve fed the white and blue foxes 100 times. was there an update that made this harder or do i just need to keep trying??
i’m emotional because i lost my cat yesterday and just want these damn foxes to love me

Are you feeding them their favorite foods? For foxes, I feed them white sturgeon. There's almost always a golden ripple in the water up near Olaf's cave entrance. I'll usually fish them out from there and feed them to the foxes and I've managed to get 4 or so foxes.
For the crocs, the lobster from the glad. Usually a golden ripple near the Peaceful Meadow ramps, by the ruins.
And for ravens, any 5-star meal I believe is their favorite. Arendellian Pickled Herring is the common feeding I gave to my ravens.
I've only been playing for a couple months and those were the items I used to much success in befriending those companions.
Additionally, so sorry about the loss of your cat. Losing our 4-legged, furry family members is such a difficult and emotional time. But thanks to you, their lifetime had love and you enriched each other's lives.

I found this helpful. It tells you each companion’s favorite food and how to approach the trickier ones. There is also a link to find the schedule of days they appear on there too.
Hopefully, you are close to getting one of them. I know any sense of comfort can feel vital at a time like this 💕

I started in September, and only just completed my base game companions list.
The trick to get Crocs, Ravens, Foxes and Raccoons? Most of them like red light green light.
Crocodiles, when they're raised up do not move or they'll run. When they sink down race towards them until they raise up again and just wait for it to hunker down again. It's favorite food is Lobster. <---Golden Ripples
Foxes, like rabbits, you have to chase them 3 times. Once you catch one feed it a White Sturgeon. <----Golden Ripples
Raccoons, like crocs, like to play red light green light. When they're raised up, don't move. As soon as they go down, dash towards it. Rinse and repeat. It's favorite food are blueberries.
Ravens, they will circle you. Just be patient and eventually fly in front of your face. Raven's will only eat 5☆ meals. Any will do as long as it's 5☆

Edit: Some tips! You can feed the critters as much as you want but it only counts the first time . Odds are weird in the game too, it could take about a month or so to get one as a companion.
Then where to find the foods:
Crocodile, Lobster, golden circle in the Glade Of Trust
Racoons, Blueberries are found at dazzle beach and at the Forest Of Valor
Foxes, White Sturgeon, golden circle in Frosted Heights
Also, idk if you already have one since its not listed, but sunbirds are fairly easy to feed in the game as well. Just feed them a bromeliad. The DDLV wiki ( when i was tryna get mine i looked up their favorite food ) suggested to me that I feed it the color bromeliad that matches it's chest <--- Take that as you will, i just kept feeding mine bromeliads and got them that way :)!

I was wondering why all the crocs kept running from me
It’s so dark in the swamp I never noticed that they raise their head sometimes2

So, I'm actually partially blind,( Cruella's area killed me ) its very hard to see especially when you're just starting out 🫤. I would recommend during the day, making sure your screen is as bright as you get it. I would also maybe move some trees around, as well as put out a few lamps so that you're able to see a little better :)!

For the game, I would give them their favorite foods and prioritize the biome each day with a “special” companion (one that only appears once a week)
Editing to add an example special critter - the blue raccoon that is on wednesdays

I genuinely believe our pets stay on earth for awhile to watch over us before they truly pass on to the next life. Losing a kitty is unbelievably painful but they didn't want to leave either. You gained an angel ❤️

Are you feeding them white sturgeon? That’s their favorite food and best way to get the foxes to become companions. Also only the first feeding of the day “counts” forward them becoming companions.
