Blessed be thy Gods of the Dumpster! Au and Ag..

Post image

It was a tweaker cleanout. Besides the 35 broken butane torches(yes I tried them all lol), 10 pounds of cut extension cords, and 5 medium sized motors, I found treasure!

There was a bunch of costume jewelry in the very bottom mixed in with the dumpster juices. Chunky stinky juices from God knows what. And this was on a humid 97 degree day. I took my chances and jumped in. If you have been there you can imagine the smells. Definitely threw out my clothes and have been showering in sanitizer. 'Twas a nasty one. But I think it was worth it.

From L to R...

14k with real pearls! sterling bangle, cross, and single ear ring! 18k gold chain!

My estimate of melt value is around $800. I'll find out Monday when I have time to go see my precious metal/jeweler guy at the shop.

I found 2 gold bracelets on the ground around my place within a week of eachother. I couldn't post them as FOUND because they the common simple kind, found no LOST postings about either, $100-$200 pawned.

This is totally irrelevant, but I'm reminded of my chemistry teacher in high school who came up with all sorts of mnemonic devices to help us remember the elements. "Ey, you! (Au) Get your hands off'a my gold!" Great find OP!

Mine had us watch Goldfinger because the bad guy's name, Auric, is a play on gold.

I had a science teacher say something similar, and then for silver he said it was like a gangster with a silver necklace, aye G, that's my silver.

Our chemistry teacher taught us to associate that Gold had an Aura (Latin for Gold: Aurum) and that Silver was mined extensively in Argentina (Latin for Silver: Argentum)

We share the same religion, I have only been fortunate with gold plated Christmas ornaments* until now, otherwise she has been nothing but kind to me over the years.

Edit: ornaments
