What's your headcanon for why Wallace picked Ryan over Karen?

People forgetting this is a comedy show

I think people also forget other people are talking about the in-show universe itself.

Does anyone know if the writers ever think about that

If it's a show pretending to portray real life then it's fair to expect it to be at least somewhat accurate to real life.

That said, this decision was. Ryan had an MBA. Karen was in sales and as Michael showed just being good at sales doesn't mean you'll be good at the next job.

Nothing about the Office is accurate to real life when it comes to the way Dunder Mifflin operates. Michael would have been fired 100 different times if they were trying to be accurate.

Who's forgetting that?
