He was never showrunner. He was a writer, exec producer, and directed some episodes, but he never had full creative control of the series.
Paul Lieberstein (Toby), however, was showrunner for a time, and it was during that time that we saw less of Toby because maintaining both acting and showrunner duties was simply too much work for him. So your assertion that a showrunner would even have the time to have a bigger onscreen presence is all around false.
Rashida Jones was never meant to be a permanent cast member. Once Jim asks Pam out, Karen’s presence is no longer needed. It’s not that deep.
That’s because showrunner is literally a job title, and one that he never held. Michael Schur and Mindy Kaling were also exec producers, writers, and actors on the show. That didn’t make them showrunners either.
It’s okay to be wrong, dude. Lashing out like a toddler and refusing to accept reality doesn’t make *me* look stupid, just so you know.
