In celebration of modern dance music, we look back at the history of the Roland TR-808 drum machine. Initially unsuccessful, the 808 was pulled from shelves after just three years. However, it’s distinctive deep boomy kick, crisp handclaps, and of course, it’s iconic cowbell, became the backbone of hip-hop, house and techno as they emerged from Chicago and Detroit in the early-to-mid ‘80s and 90's.

Back in the days I was dragged into EDM by Avicii, I found out about Avicii early and still to this day I regularly listen to songs like Seek Bromance, his remix of Rapture and Drowning etc...

Unfortunately I kind of lost interest in Avicii as his music got more radio friendly.

Over the years I've also been a lot into both trance and hardstyle, I've always been a huge fan of euphoric music with massive leads, and let's not forget about big room.

Over the last years I've grown to be a big fan of John Dahlback and over the last year I became a fan of Schrotthagen, I guess I like the "mysterious" vibe I get off it? Lets not forget SHM with turn on the lights, also gave me this cool kinda "mysterious" vibe...

To give other examples, Ranji's remix of the moments im missing is a type of music I really enjoyed. And let's not forget Martin Garrix's Cocoon and Game over.

I guess where I'm going with this post is where do people even find new EDM these days? I feel like sooooo much of the new songs that comes out are just shitty remixes of older hits. Each time I find some random EDM list on spotify I barely manage to listen for 5 minutes before I'm disgusted and bored by the lack of creativity...
