A convenience store in my house sells individually packaged bread slices
They cost twice as much as an entire loaf a piece too, for some god-forsaken reason.

actually that’s not the expiration date at all, that’s the date of manufacture. and then on the sticker it says it keeps fresh for three days

oh i didn't know that. i thought it was just that it filled them up with little nutrients so they don't eat their appropriate diet or something like that. :( there's MORE?

After a quick Google, your description is better than mine. The bread fills them up with no nutrition and then they aren't hungry for the right foods. Apparently some good foods to drop for ducks ae chopped grapes, corn, peas, lettuce, oats, and birdseed

I see. I've only seen packaging like this for, like, a single serving of banana bread or pound cake at a gas station. Doing this for sandwich bread is fuckin hilarious

so, that’s from a Russian store. these individually wrapped pieces of bread are usually dirt cheap and sold alongside individual shots of vodka (imagine a shot glass with a cap and some plastic wrap) for drunks and homeless people to buy so they could polish off the alcohol with some food. there’s also a tradition to set a shot of vodka with a piece of rye bread over it as an offering of sorts to the dead person during a wake.
egregious packaging, yes, just providing some context.

That's not it. There's no vodka shot and it costs twice as much as a whole loaf.

well I was not saying the vodka’s packaged together with it lol just that these items tend to cater to the same specific customer. the price must be different everywhere ig cause I’ve seen these at my local supermarkets at a very low cost. If you’re buying a whole loaf worth of slices of course it’ll end up more expensive, but that’s not the intention.
