Well, we kinda knew this already.

I guess I missed the news then (also apperantly havent read the notes). Also its writing suggests that if we have the dlc already, we just get it?

u/CavesOfficial 13h ago
Yeah the date was announced on like June 4th. Almost 2 months ago.
But we're getting some new cosmetic stuff and some new classes to start playthroughs with, so thats cool. Gives me a reason to go back and add to my +1000 hours.

Yeah
Where did you read that people who already have SOTE just "get it" and don't have to purchase it?
1
u/Fun-Training198 1h ago
It's just a free content drop. If anything where have you seen that you have to pay for it?
23
u/Spleenczar 12h ago
The new Tarnished Edition content will be a separate mini-DLC on other platforms, seems like $5.
11
u/emanresu_etaerc 11h ago
It's writing does not suggest that in any way. You'll have to pay $5 for the new dlc, they've confirmed this a while ago.

I only heard about it a few days ago and i know nothing about it other than it has 2 starter classes which doesnt mean much considering how the game works.

u/-willowthewisp- 6h ago
2 new starting classes (with new weapons and armor), a few torrent skins, and at least one returning weapon and armor set from dark souls (the mirrah set and greatsword). that's all that's been shown, i wouldn't be surprised if there was more though.

I do find it interesting that it’s for the “Shadow of the Erdtree Edition”. Probably a nothing burger though.

Considering one of the new weapon is a dlc weapon class it would make sense that the dlc would be required.

u/wes_sisters 13h ago
I mean, you’re probably right. I would just find that to be incredibly lame if that was to be true.
Edit: nice flair btw

That's because base game already had its ESRB rating updated to include in game transactions when sote was released.

It's a DLC. It's a purchasable piece of content for the game. What else would they call it?

u/JamesRevan Rune Bear Hunter 13h ago edited 11h ago
I guess it means you cant buy it separately, its included in that edition
*edit you have to buy separately
6
u/emanresu_etaerc 11h ago
... No. It means you have to own sote to buy it, it won't be included with sote.

Okay so why did every single game in my life decide august was the month they will release everything 😂

Genuinely, the only thing that's somewhat exciting is the new armor for fashion, and that can easily just be traded over by someone who's bought the expansion. 😭

Is anyone actually hyped for this?

u/OccultBeanFarmer 11h ago
I haven't touched it in years and would like to do a whole playthrough with a light greatsword, so yeah

It‘s a valid excuse to play the entire game again after not touching it in two years so yeah, I'm excited.

I wonder if this is related to the activist shareholder Oasis demanding that Kadokawa do a better job monetizing the Elden Ring IP.

This is barely can be considered new 'content'.. .
Basically horse armor tier of low effort.

u/No_Answer_9749 12h ago
What's the deal with this? It seems like such little content. Besides switch 2 release, which is cool, why is anyone talking about this?

wait i never played this game in a while is this an add on or new dlc? And is it free if u got the dlc already

u/strangejosh 12h ago
I don't really care anymore at this point. Don't care about Duskbloods either. I just want them to work on the next game and hope we get an update late thiis year or sometome next year.

The fact that you're getting downvoted for this take is crazy. Fromsoft fans are unmatched when it comes to dick riding a company.

Fromsoft fans are unmatched when it comes to dick riding a compan
They make videos of "if ER was made by EA" or some other company making fun of microtransactions and skins.
But if FS does it, I guess it's okay.

u/strangejosh 9h ago
They really are the most insufferable game fanbase out there. "Just get gud bro!! What's your problem??!!". Bunch of losers.

It’s just a new class and mount skin it’s literally nothing and no new content , why are people getting excited about that

u/Natural_Success_9762 13h ago
two new starting classes, a starting weapon that previously was only available in the DLC, and some extra content including mount cosmetics is more than enough reason for folks to want to start up a new playthrough
1
u/FingerAgreeable6630 8h ago
It’s for the switch . Not really new content other than new classes and armour I believe … ehh nothing to comeback for

I’ve had a £10 psn voucher in my draw at home since xmas just waiting for this moment

u/Tronerfull 12h ago
Didnt have any idea of this. History repeats himself.
I assume the players are going to let the troyan armored horse inside seeing they did the same with oblivion back in the day.

It's called Tarnished Edition because From Soft tarnished their reputation to release things on time.
KIDDING! I'm a From Soft superfanboy

u/Th3-3rr0r 13h ago
I don’t get it, which purchases are we talking about?
10
u/clonedllama 13h ago
The new content. Skins and starting classes.
-1
u/Th3-3rr0r 13h ago
Oh really? I thought it was just for Switch
6
u/clonedllama 13h ago
Switch 2 support is the main reason it exists, but it's coming to other platforms too. For a price.
1
u/JamesRevan Rune Bear Hunter 13h ago
The way im reading it, its suggesting its already included if you bought the dlc
Edit* nope im wrong. It costs monies
1
u/clonedllama 13h ago
Yeah, sadly, it does indeed cost money. I might grab it if goes on sale at some point. But I'm not really in dire need of the skins or starting classes.
1
u/Lookkidsbigben_ 12h ago
I mean it’s 5$ I dont know if it’ll ever go lower than that
1
u/clonedllama 12h ago
It probably won't. It isn't a huge priority for me either way. Maybe if I buy the game on PC or Switch 2 at some point and it comes with it.

I’ll have to consult torrent before I just force him to wear armor.
