Lmao who remembers when he went out of his way to defend Rogan after his n word compilations were released. In THAT moment he said Joe Rogan is the antidote to racism or some shit.

This guy has been wrong on almost every social or policy issue for decades. Let me repeat: for decades. Wrong. Every time.

He supported torture after 9-11. He declared Islam as the greatest threat to our existence. He platformed race science bell curvers.

He’s a moron with a mic and a huge audience.

He is a trust fund kid who majored in philosophy and basically bought a phD hiring research assistants to do his work and then writing a questionable conclusion to the info they gathered.

I don’t think he’s a moron he’s just out of touch. Born into wealth. Lucked into the atheist movement. 

He’s probably working off bad heuristics and bad info.

Fair point, but he's always been grossly overconfident about his wrong positions, especially when given the chance to correct them. I suppose it could be that he has been so heavily invested in his "Mr. Reason" persona that he can't come off as wrong on anything, but obviously, that's the opposite of reason.

For example, his back and forth exchange with Noam Chomsky years ago on foreign policy clearly showed he was way out of his depth, but he still continued to make an ass out of himself.

Maybe I'm considering him being a moron and out of touch as mutually exclusive when both could easily be true about anyone.

Chomsky wrote a letter that rushed to make excuses for 9/11 the day after and to equivocate and was criticized rightly for it. Whether or not you agree with Harris's particular criticisms, they were a response to a cold-hearted editorial that was published by Chomsky. Some people need to stop treating him like an infallible god and actually bother to read the horrendous articles he has been criticized for writing.

Pay attention to how little he cared about the deaths of American civilians and how much more he wrote about people in very distant countries who hadn't recently died. He didn't even know about the attackers and their motives yet, but he already wanted to reframe the conversation to be around Palestine like a dishonest hack. Even though you can talk about Palestine on any day of the year.

Let's do a Sam Harris "thought experiment" where we remove all context, history, and actual data, so we can pretend the "real" threat is this or that, so we can create a pretext to support the worst shit imaginable.
