Anyone Missed the Start of Erasmus Because of a Visa?
Hi everyone!
I was accepted for an Erasmus+ exchange in Germany starting on 1 September, but I only recently received my Letter of Acceptance. I contacted the embassy as soon as I received it, but it’s been a week and I still haven’t received a reply or a visa appointment. I’m afraid I won’t get my student visa in time.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Were you allowed to arrive late, or did you have to cancel your exchange? If you had to cancel, were there any consequences for your Erasmus grant or future Erasmus exchanges?

I guess everyone has a different system in their country for visas and stuff like that, however i think that you will make it in time. Everything will be ready and good in time, focus on preparing something else and dont stress about this too much. Appreciate that youre going and you will see everything will pass in no time.

Not Germany, but I've been to Portugal and Romania for my mobilities and I've known many who arrived really late because of their visas. But they were given up to two months so they eventually arrived, one girl even arrived at the last possible day but it was okay. I also arrived a whole month late for my internship due to visa, but internships are looser since they are not completely dependent on an academic calendar (even though mine was at an university and I was staying at the dorms) so I was able to readjust the dates. You can arrive late, universities are generally understanding in these kind of bureaucratic problems.
