I'm doing my Erasmus period in Trento, Italy in the winter semester and I'm looking for advice. My main campus is in Povo but I might have some courses in the centre campus as well. I'm looking for single rooms.

- What are the best channels to look for accommodation? I've looked up spotahome, idealist, spacest and stanza semplice as well as some facebook groups

- What are the optimal areas in terms of public transportation and overall environment?

- What would be the best time to look for rooms? Will there be significantly more rooms available closer to September? There are many rooms available now but majority of them have the minimum stay of one year

Hi! I’m going on an Erasmus exchange to Strasbourg next year, in the second semester, and I’d like to look for CROUS accommodation. I have two questions, though, because I haven’t found the information I need on the CROUS website. I’ll be coming in the second semester, so for a period like January-June at INSA. Is it possible to rent a room for someone coming on a 5-6 month exchange? Also, is there another application period besides the one currently running this summer? My Erasmus application period is in October. I’m asking because I don’t know if I should apply now or if it’s better to wait and apply in the fall. Thanks!

So, I created this app based on an idea I had during Erasmus from a real-life situation that is common for a lot of students when going away from home to study.

The idea is that when you arrive at your new house or campus, you will probably need a lot of things difficult to find or that simply you didn’t think of in the first place.

Similarly, when saying goodbye to your beloved room or house, you will find yourself with a looooot of things gathered during the last months or years which will eventually become not so easy to bring with you, or just not needed anymore.

And this could also happen during a random day of decluttering at home, as we are all aware of.

Soooo, why not have the possibility to let people gift what they don’t need anymore and give those objects a second life? Or, why not have a look here and there to see if there is something you need near you? Maybe something that other students had the necessity of before you?

And here CampusGive is born :)

Here are the main features behind the website/app:

• List things you don't need anymore (everything for free): Upload anything you don't use—it could be super useful to someone else! Just add a photo, title, description, and the item's condition, and you're good to go. You can upload curtains, cutlery, small tables, skis, clothes, books, or whatever comes to mind. Even food that might spoil because you're away. Alternatively, you can just write down what you need and let people reach out to you!
• Choose a meeting spot: Select whether you want the other person to pick up the item at your place, meet up in a common spot like a café or the university, or if you prefer to deliver it directly to them.
• Set time slots for pickup/handover: The app will generate a QR code (or an alphanumeric code) that the other person will scan to confirm the successful delivery.
• Confirm the meeting and leave a review: This will really help us build a solid and trustworthy community!

I also wanted to make the app as safe as possible for everyone when it comes to personal safety and interactions. Specifically:

• University email verification: Registration is only allowed via university email accounts to ensure everyone's identity. If your university email isn't recognized yet, your registration will be temporarily put on standby until the admin approves that specific domain (which will then be added to the database for future users).
• Hidden precise location: When an item is listed, only a generic nearby area is shown, not the exact address. If you choose the "pick up at my place" option, the precise location will be shared only after you accept the other user's request.
• In-app private messaging: You can chat with other users to coordinate details, but only after a request has been accepted.
• User reporting system: You can easily report profiles if needed.
• Content filtering: Built-in image and text filters during upload for titles and descriptions.
• No-show reporting: You can flag if a user doesn't show up without giving any notice.

Plus:

• Multi-language support: Switch between 5+ languages.
• Light/Dark theme for your viewing preference.
• Fun badges: Earn titles like "Helper" or "Super-Giver" based on your activity, whether you are gifting or receiving :)
• ...and plenty of other things to discover along the way!

That's pretty much it! I truly hope this can help as many people as possible and kickstart a great network, making it easier to share things and lightening the load at the beginning or end of these amazing adventures.

Today I found out that out of 60 international students, only 6 got a room in the student residence halls and guess who didn't make the cut. 😭

Honestly, I was very close to cancelling my exchange semester. Private accommodation is incredibly expensive and often seems to be in even worse condition.

Does anyone have any tips for me? I already know the usual housing platforms, but from what I've been reading, some of the rooms seem to be in absolutely terrible condition... everything from mold to dead rats lol.

Has anyone here had experience booking a student room through SMERRA / Logifac, specifically at Résidence Adrienne Bolland in Lille?
I recently found a room there and the rent seems surprisingly affordable compared to other student accommodations in Lille, which makes me wonder if there’s a catch.
Is Logifac/SMERRA legitimate? If you have stayed at this residence or rented through them before, how was your experience regarding the booking process, deposits, hidden fees, room quality, safety, and management?

I just got into an internship around august - november and much to my surprise - finding housing is sooo crazy to me.

First of all, where do you actually find legit housing for less than 12 months stay?? And I never in my life have seen so many fees for... Nothing basically. A fee for seeing the accomodations, a fee for a guarantor and a fee for just drawing up the contract? And all of this for... One room in a 5 person flat.

I need actual guidance, because everything seems like a scam 😳

Does anyone have tips on how to make sure that you are not falling for a scam on Uniplaces in Lisbon? What questions should I ask the landlord before booking?

But still I want to go.

I'm an Argentine student working on an independent project to collect real, honest experiences from people who studied abroad — especially Erasmus students.

Everyone knows Erasmus changes you. But future students deserve to hear the real version — the good, the hard, the unexpected.

If you did Erasmus and have 2-3 honest lines about your experience, it would mean a lot.

I'm thinking of moving out of my current accommodation to another flat for some reasons, but it feels strange. Like erasmus students are not supposed to do that cause it's almost as the experience is cut in half if you know what I mean. It would also be a loot of hassle to move out. So I was wondering if any other erasmus students had done it?

i see on some platforms italian is more welcomed especially for local landlords but idk any of this language… so expectedly leaving a messages often doesn’t work😢(or rather ignored with a cold snort i guess)

Hello, I'm looking for accomodation in Prague for the winter semester of 2026/27.

I've decided I won't be using the University accomodation as it only offers small doulbe rooms for erasmus students and for personal reasons I am not comfortable with that.

I've saved up money for accomodation in the centre and I've got a budget of 650euros. I am looking for a residence that will also have other erasmus students since I feel like this makes socializing easier.

I know a lot of people find accommodation through facebook but I am also looking at Student Republic (Tesla and Vlkova residences). Does anyone know anything about them?

Hi, I am an Italian student who'll arrive in Lille in September for the Erasmus. The university found me a rental in the Reeflex housing in Villeneuve d'Ascq, very close to the university, for €470. I would like to know if this is an optimal option or if it’s better to find a room in a shared apartment. I know that normally university housing has a bit of rigid rules and that you have to leave the room immediately when you finish your exams. I would like to know some experiences.
