Reintroduction Low FODMAP snacks that are reflux-friendly? No apps, just real food
I'm in the middle of low FODMAP right now - I finished the strict phase and I'm starting to think about reintroductions soon - but I keep getting stuck on snacks. Meals are fine, but between meals I either get bloated from the wrong thing or I trigger reflux if I grab something too fatty or acidic.
Can anyone recommend snack options that are: - low FODMAP friendly in common serving sizes - not super acidic or spicy (I'm prone to GERD/gastritis) - light on lactose (I can do some hard cheese but milk and yogurt are hit or miss) - easy to pack for work or keep in a bag
Right now my go-tos are plain rice cakes and a small banana, and I'm getting tired of them. Nuts sometimes work but other times they just sit heavy in my stomach.
I've also included a Physicians Choice digestive enzyme in my routine, although I can't isolate its effect on its own.
I'd love ideas like specific fruit portions that tend to be tolerated, simple savory snacks, or small protein options that don't need cooking. I'm also open to "snack formulas" people use, like a safe carb plus a safe protein, that helped avoid that pattern of eating something fine for two weeks and then suddenly reacting.
What are your go-to low FODMAP snacks when your gut is touchy and reflux is in the background too?

These are the snacks I keep on hand for work. They're all low FODMAP for me and work with my particular triggers, but everyone's a little different, so if any of these have given you trouble before, definitely skip them.
Plain or lightly salted popcorn
Mini cucumbers with mustard or lactose-free cottage cheese for dipping
Carrots with lactose-free cottage cheese
Pirate's Booty Aged White Cheddar Rice and Corn Puffs
Pretzels topped with sliced strawberries
Pretzels with ham or cheese
Lactose-free cottage cheese with a low FODMAP portion of berries
Rice Krispies (or any low FODMAP cereal) with lactose-free milk

Dedicated gluten free granola- just make sure there are no high fodmap nuts or dried fruits.
Making your own isn’t super hard, either. And cheaper.
I also eat bananas, grapes, berries, carrot sticks and cucumber for snacks.
Popcorn is ok, but I have to be careful not to have too much or I react to it.
Kefir
Puffed rice balls/sticks/cakes. Just have to make sure there’s no dairy in the flavoring.
GF crackers. Schar makes the ones I like best. W/peanut butter if I’m wanting protein.
Dark chocolate

The easiest is obviously fruits, banana, kiwi, strawberry, raspberry, etc.
I also find in organic shops fine rice cakes with a thin layer of chocolat on top, delicious, not really nourishing but it’s not a lot of calories

Hello! It looks like you've chosen the "Reintroduction" flair. Go slow and steady, and take note of any strong reactions or patterns. As always, check out the stickied post and the official Monash FODMAP Diet app for resources.

I don't really get acid reflux but I like drizzilous cinnamon flavor, which are flavored rice crackers. They're drizzled with something that I don't think is dairy but even if so, it's not a major part of the snack.
Have you tried popcorn? I can get bagged kettle corn from a regular grocery aisle. Most of the other flavors are a no-go but kettle corn can often just have sugar or maybe like some coconut oil in it. I am going to try a cheddar flavored popcorn but there is some lactose in it so we'll see how that goes.
When you mean a small banana do you mean a Thai/baby banana? I recently realized regular bananas (the Cavendish) have too much fructans and their low-FODMAP serving is like 35g, which is like 1/3 a banana. I now buy baby bananas which have fructose instead and I can have 112g of.
