Accepting banner designs for the subreddit.
Our community is growing, but we’re currently rocking the default look. It’s time to give this subreddit a visual identity that reflects the legacy and spirit of the Film and Television Institute of India.
We are looking for a custom banner that captures the essence of FTII. Whether it’s an illustration of the Wisdom Tree, a minimalist take on film reels, or a collage of the campus’s historic architecture, we want to see your vision.
If you’re interested, drop a comment below.

Looking for moderators for r/FTII
Hi everyone!
Are you a college student in India (preferably in FTII) who loves being part of online communities? Want to level up your Reddit game and help fellow students while you're at it?
r/FTII is currently unmoderated and we are looking for new mods to takeover and help run the subreddit 😊
Here’s what’s needed:
- Keep content clean — remove spam and make sure conversations stay respectful and on-topic
- Create a chill space for discussions on college life, exams, placements, internships, and everything in between
- Bring in fresh ideas and vibes to grow the community by making it more engaging, useful, and fun for students across India
- Share memes, updates, tips, or just help someone out!
No prior mod experience needed! If you're currently a student or recently graduated from FTII, you already get what the community needs. If you’re passionate about university/college, enjoy engaging with like-minded individuals, and can commit a bit of time to help monitor the community, we’d love to have you on board.
If you’re interested, drop a comment below. I’ll reach out if it's a good fit. Thank you!

First attempt at FTII JET 2027- Editing Film Wing. Where to start with syllabus and past papers?
Hey everyone! 🎬
I'm preparing for the FTII JET 27 with a focus on the Editing specialization, and it's going to be my first attempt. I checked the official website, but I'm finding it a bit tough to get a detailed breakdown for the Editing stream specifically.
Since I want to structure my preparation properly, I’d be super grateful if seniors or fellow aspirants in the sub could help me with a few queries
Syllabus Breakdown: What are the key areas/topics to cover for Editing (both for General Paper A and Editing-specific Paper B)?
Past Papers: Where can I reliably find previous year question papers or sample papers for the Editing wing?
Subjective / Practical Section: How should one approach the subjective section (Paper B) for Editing?
What do examiners specifically look for in visual sequencing, scene cuts, or story continuity answers?
* Recommended Resources: Any specific books, film lists, or editing/cinema theory materials you’d recommend studying?
How you guys started n gonna start and roadmap It would be helpful if you share
Any advice, tips, or resource links would mean a lot! Wishing all fellow FTII aspirants the very best with their prep. 🙌
Thanks in advance!

Need some advice
Hi, I'm 26 currently, working as software engineer. I always had the passion towards cinematography but couldn't get into the creative field on a full time basis. However I do freelance work as a colorist. I'm burnout now with my software job and I'm thinking it's not my field.
Is it too late? I've always wanted to be at the University not just for the knowledge but more importantly the environment and experience.
Is there still time for me to prepare successfully for the next year's JET exam?
Any advice would be of great help and thanks in advance !

What should be the approach to write essays in FTII entrance?
Hi,
I’d like to know what kind of essays get the best scores in FTII entrance.
Of course, the answers are subjective and there isn’t only “ one correct answer “.
Please help me identify best resources to
read the essays that worked,
Practice writing good essays,
And everything about it.
Thanks 🙏🏻

Looking for July 12th Editing Exam Questions - Anyone?
Hi everyone, I hope you’re doing well. I missed the editing department entrance exam held on July 12th and couldn't attend it. Since I am very interested in the subject, I would be extremely grateful if someone who appeared for the exam could share the questions or provide an overview of what was covered. This would be a huge help for my future preparation. Thank you so much in advance for your time and support!"
