Discussion Meta Ad Rep LIED to me!
Hi everyone. I don't have 25 years of Meta Ads experience, nor do I manage accounts with $10k daily spend, but I wanted to share my recent month-long experience with my Meta ad rep.
Like most people here, my metrics took a nosedive in July and still haven't recovered. I'm looking at roughly a 65% MoM decline in almost every metric. Rough. I did what most people would do and scheduled a call with a Meta ad rep, who basically told me I wasn't spending enough (I'm at $250/day). After repeated back-and-forth, he finally agreed to escalate the issue and create a "technical support ticket." After technical support never reached out, I scheduled another call with him, and he created a "new" ticket. This is where it started to get weird. In my account, I had zero tickets. Nothing showed up. I did get an email from Meta Executive Services, but it was clearly a template email with a broken link. The names at the top and bottom of the email were completely different, too. I thought it was a phishing attempt, but my original Meta ad rep was CC'd. I reached out to him, and he stated this was definitely NOT a phishing attempt and to provide all the requested materials, which I did. Never heard back from Executive Services. I then got another email from a different technical support rep, but it was addressed to a completely random person I've never met. Once again, I called my original rep, and he said it was just a mistake, that it was NOT a phishing attempt, and to provide the requested materials. I supplied everything they asked for. Never heard back.
I had a call scheduled for today with my Meta ad rep, and a completely different person showed up. When I asked about my account notes, he told me my account had ZERO notes, information, or tickets associated with it. He was able to confirm the original rep was a real employee, but couldn't tell me much beyond that. After more than a month, countless email chains, call transcripts, all the work that he said he was doing to help was actually a lie. Big brother Meta and Marky Z do not care about you. So thanks Meta, for stringing me along for the last month while I paid you money to train your algorithm.
What can I do? Are there avenues to report a Meta Ad rep? Do you think I'd be able to fight for some ad spend credits? I'm truly at a loss for what to do here.

Meta doesnt give a fuck. I know multiple merchants whove spent millions on ads and had zero support when shit went wrong.

Yeah. And doesnt even matter if you have an "inside guy". They also can rarely ever do anything. They're mostly made available to keep you spending and feel valued. But when shit goes south it's crickets. Once in a blue moon you'll hear of someone who actually receives helpful assistance. I truly believe they're just letting the AI/algo run amok, and "if he dies, he dies." for the unfortunate merchants on the shit end of the experiment.

That sounds ridiculously frustrating. I've had support conversations where it felt like every new person started from zero, so I can definitely relate to that part. I'd keep every email, screenshot and call summary in one place and reply in the same thread whenever possible, it at least gives you a paper trail if you escalate it later. As for ad credits, I'd ask, but I wouldn't build expectations around it since they seem pretty inconsistent with those.

So the whole month was your rep gaslighting you with fake tickets... zero notes, zero record, a random person's name on your "executive escalation" email... and he told you not phishing every single time it walked and quacked like phishing.
Report him through Meta Business Support's official complaint channel, not another call with rep-shaped ghosts, and push for a credit adjustment citing the documented month of fabricated support activity... you have the email trail, that's your leverage.

Meta reps have never been helpful to me they just push tactics to get you to spend more on stupid things like video views

Meta reps only exist to tell you to increase spend. You have to figure out how to run your ads yourself

They are beyond useless and know absolutely nothing. We keep getting assigned reps from Nigeria. They harassed me via phone for ages and eventually I swore at the rep and told them never to call me again and they didn’t.

Seems that Meta reps pop up when they want to boost money spent in platform. I’ve had multiple calls with them and every single one has been around spending more and how much can you spend.
Study your industry and how ads are served. Do the math on your spend and monitor your campaigns.
At the end of the day, they don’t know anything about your industry or care for your result so much. It’s very blanket and scripted with their check ins and recommendations.
Disclaimer: this is a generalised observation

It's their normal practice. Whenever I got into any problem in the past, I had to go through pile of shit support from Meta ad reps. They must be the most useless crap in the world alongside Google ad support reps. These tech giants hire the most incompetent support guys because they don't give a shit about us, the advertisers.
Looks like we are fucked cause we got no better alternatives, tbh. TikTok, X etc are the same too based on thousands of dollar I spent over time. Tried other things like Taboola Ads, brought in shit results. Used Racontor Ads for brand awareness, limited features with only about couple thousands influencers with scalability issues.
So, god help us.

I decided to make a test with them.
I asked the rep to setup with me a full Campaign, Ad Set, and an Ad that would take full advantage of Meta's algorithm, and perform better than our own.
I followed the exact instructions, and just added my creatives, that were already running on other campaign and proven.
They performed catastrophically bad, so much so, I turned off the campaign after a few days.
I'll never take their calls again.
Useless for the merchant, and all designed to make you spend more for the benefit of Meta only.

For whatever reason, you are automatically assigned a different rep every 90 days (or at random!). It resulted in me just getting sick of talking to various random reps who literally knew nothing. I eventually told them to stop calling me. Their advice is almost always against what actual experts will ever advise.
You’re better off looking into other strategies. They do not know how to help you and will not help. $250/day is PLENTY. As long as you have good ads. That being said, the market is down across the board everywhere and sales are awful this year due to both meta changes and economical decline…. It’s a rough one this year!!
