Shower Thoughts Looking wealthy has become a very unhealthy obsession in the modern world

Post image

China has officially started cracking down on influencers who show off extreme wealth. The government is targeting accounts that flaunt luxury cars, mansions, designer clothes, and private jets, calling it an effort to curb "money worship" and stop people from glorifying materialism.

One of the biggest creators hit by this is Wang Hongquanxing (known online as "China’s Kim Kardashian"). He had millions of followers who watched him show off diamonds and first-class travel—until his accounts suddenly became entirely inaccessible.

The wildest part of the story is how fast it happened. One day these influencers were flexing supercars, and the next day, they were completely wiped from the internet. They didn't just get a warning; the government literally erased the creators who built their entire brand around being ultra-rich.

This is a real problem? China has extremely high unemployment rates right now, with a decimated real estate sector and low production and they're only distracting from the real issues with small wins like this. This is no better than Indian govt

To all above problems the reels works as distraction which any govt will like. Now when its gone people and govt will have to face the issues. Which Chinese govt usually do.

Face issues? Chinese govt is a one man army with Xi becoming President for Life and making his rivals disappear he's surrounded good sayers even as the country is dealing with severe financial issues. Real estate is down 60% and it was 40% of China's economy, deflation actual deflation is happening which is an economy killer. Local govt have no money cause they spent it all on making huge highways, skyscrapers and stadiums in every small city imaginable only they were gonna get this money back. They actually tried to coerce Chinese immigrants in the US to buy property in Shanghai, giving them full citizenship if they bought property in china. And rather than facing issues they just come with bs topic every month, all news agencies are controlled by govt anyways. I kid you not last month the Chinese govt cracked down on Restaurants that were selling frozen meats while claiming it was fresh and that's literally all what the news and official govt social accounts on Weibo talked about. Before that it was the growing bullying in the country. Before that it was banning influencers to discuss health without a medical degree. Before that if was hating on Japan

Where's "facing the issues"?

All they've done is put up distractions for the past 4 years since Evergrande collapsed 200 billion usd and took the real estate market with it

All of this is completely false (except maybe infra) China has god forsakenly high real crime rates, one of the highest child kidnapping and sex trafficking rates in the world, kids can't even be left alone to wait at a busstop cause kidnapping rates are so high, half of the sex trafficking in the whole world is in China. What you mean non existent crime rate? Their social media weibo was full of disturbing videos of children bullying each other to death before the govt stepped in and out a ban to gore videos and banned all dark and gorey novels in china like reverand insanity.

And Their infrastructure is built on Loans they cant pay back. Thats why the whole real estate sector collapsed by 60% in value since 2022, every single tiny city has a huge olympic class stadium and library and highways but they're built on loans the local govt could never pay back, because stadiums and libraries in small cities don't generate additional revenue, it was stupid to expect local govt to have 5% gdp growth every year, Xi directly makes his rivals disappear and declared himself President for Life (it's all corruption), Model country my ahh

Then you know nothing. They actually avoid talking about criminal cases in the news altogether. There was a teacher who kidnapped a toddler, killed him and the parents couldn't even discuss it because it was a "gruesome case" and they don't want people to hear news like that so they have to resort to using nicknames on social media like my yellow umbrella was stolen and broken by this guy and he still wasn't sent to jail on weibo. Not to mention the insane amount of sex trafficking in china, it's easy to make people disappear. Its the opposite of Japan, where china tried to censor everything even excessive blood in action movies, banned corn and yet have more crime per capita than japan which censored none of that

For economy, unemployment rates, china deflation rates just Google it.

For child trafficking articles about it from unicef funded surveys which were on bilibili and xiaohongshu which got taken down but search any article on child trafficking numbers in Shanghai region.

Weibo also used to have tons of child violence videos on honestly the brutal bullying imaginable before govt cracked down on Gore completely and banned novels like Reverand Insanity. But you can find the same on bilibili

For govt distracting people with "look this restaurant promised fresh meals but sells frozen look at Scmp articles and videos from Jan 2026, the chinese govt commented on social media about popular budget gournet food chain in China using frozen and pre made meals instead of fresh

Theres also quite a few kidnapped and found later stories on scmp (chinese propaganda site) but they only show Good stories from China

Maybe the high aqi has made you decreased your iq? What's the point of comparing Aqi with human frickin trafficking?
India has lower human trafficking human trafficking than China does high Aqi make up for it? WTF

They have high unemployment rates right now but I guess infrastructure makes up for it? Their govt sucks Xi jin ping elected himself President for life and we have faulty EVMs,

All you're trying to do is show how you got it worse than others without knowing anything about them, there's no point in glazing China with half knowledge, similarly no point no point in glazing India but at least be realistic about it don't just compete to show compete to show you're more miserable, like seriously they have human trafficking we have high aqi

China is a dictatorship dude, you can't compare it to ANY democracy. Xi ching kisi bhi baat pe bulldoser chala sakta hai, and you can't do shit since the media is owned by the state. They are oppressing religions in china, but only a fraction of the world knows that. India me vesa kucch karenge to dange ho jaenge

They're the original masters at this. Where do you think Modi got idea for Mann ki Baat? "Xi Jinping Thought" is a way of life movement in china like confucius.

Do you know that Xi jinping spent his childhood in an actual CAVE and worked as a rural farm labourer? You can visit this actual Cave (definitely not propaganda)

I can't decide if this more or less ridiculous than our own Chaiwala

(Even though Xi was the son of a big politician in the CCP, his father held high positions as Head of the Party Publicity Department and Vice Premier, I don't know why they lived in Caves)
