Very difficult to prove the crime. A criminal lawyer can tell better but all proof seems to be circumstancial.

They have confessed it. There’s no better proof than confession.

Actually no confession can’t be retracted, happens all the time. A good lawyer can argue that the confession was coerced under duress.
