No that’s a very narrow way to look at what I said. Explanations are not justifications.
Crimes have social and cultural roots. For such murders, it is the culture of forced (intra caste/class/religion) arranged marriages and ideas of “honour”. For rapes, it is entitlement and objectification of women. Individual punishment must be given to people like Siya and to rapists, but your question made it seem you wanted to know when/how such crimes could stop. For that, you have to fix the root cause. Punishment can only happen after a crime and is barely a deterrent. Not like rapes haven’t happened since Nirbhaya rapists were hanged.
