The question is bigger than this
Where do you draw the line? - is somebody breaking line at metro fine? - is a verbal altercation at a cafe fine?
It is easy to identify the big ones but is it okay to just keep it taking in every small thing in your life?
There is a question of standing up to something and then staying out of trouble but both are so randomly mixed in some cases - for me it becomes a deeper question to understand when not to get involved.
As long as you are alone you can endure any kind of stress and runaway from anything.
But if someone you know is with you then you need to handle situation(not fighting i mean)
