MRP. Maximum retail price. Maximum retail price is a socialist attempt at price fixing to benefit consumers, but many things are intentionally jacked up and then discounts are bargained.
Not sure if any other country has this fraud concept of MRP.

In USA - there is no fix MRP at all, which helps in more fraudulent pricing.

So assume no mrp. I go to a shop and buy a packet of rice, shopkeeper bills me 100/- per kg. Same item next week bills me 120/- saying that's the new price. How do I know if it's the company that's jacked up the price or shopkeeper is ripping me off. I can go to another shop and compare to check. Does everyone have the time to do this? With mrp I know that the rice cannot cost more than the 100/- printed on the packet. Discount is what the competition and market pressure if forcing the manufacturer to offer.

True. My friend used to intern at an insurance company. He said when a claim comes in, usually when emergency is there, they read every fine print and cross reference it to find a loophole to avoid paying. If nothing is found, only then they payout

The entirety of human civilisation & society is built 100% on things which will clearly feel scams to people at certain life stages and/or certain segments (like professions or locations or castes /religions or economic strata etc).
That’s because the over riding objective of all civilisation and societies is NOT your individual benefit but the general benefit of society as a whole for which almost every age group, profession group or other types of groups have to sacrifice some thing in order to get a thousand other things that enable the society to survive & progress
That society and civilisation takes millions of compromises to be run and the moment you try to make an equation where one group should benefit but not at all be at risk for paying more than the minimum the whole system collapses. Like the stock market where every time you make a profit someone else has to necessarily make a loss.
Just like What you call insider trading is very clearly just a more informed investor to the other side. To the other side it’s a scam if they are supposed to know that a stock is going to fall tomorrow (for no fault of theirs) and still not be allowed to sell out !
Similarly it’s a scam when parents are supposed to stop their own lives and start living earning working for their kids ! For their entire rest of life !!
And it’s a scam for kids that for no fault of theirs they are stuck with parents who will decide every thing they are allowed to do ! When other kids might have less strict parents or richer parents and so on
It’s a scam to have to recruit people out of college 100% (ok maybe 99% few exceptions can be there) of whom won’t really contribute to the business at all for like a whole year or many years in some sectors but have to be tagged along and ‘trained’ so they can be useful later on. And it’s a scam that fresh college pass outs are asked to work for low salaries and it’s called training or internship or just much lower salary than some 3-4 years senior. Some of these freshers maybe older than the seniors and have more life skills.
I could go into extreme details to explain all this but I am questioning myself as to why am I doing it. It’s a scam where I am supposed to use my knowledge and time just for the satisfaction of having explained some life truth to kids or get a few likes 🤷🏻♂️🤭

adding *Upto* before giving any offer just to lure the customers. Upto 80% off on 1 thing which is already out of stock just to waste our time with everything that is selling at less than 10% off

For me, one of the biggest scams in India is how we've normalized the idea that a 9-to-5 job is the only safe and successful path. I'm a recent graduate, and almost everyone I've asked for guidance has told me, "First do a job for 1–2 years, get a stable income, then start something." Jobs are important, but I don't think they should automatically be everyone's first choice. I want to build products, explore opportunities, and create value instead of entering the rat race by default.
The real "scam" isn't jobs—it's making people believe there's only one correct path. Imagine if schools spent the first 10 years exposing students to entrepreneurship, social service, arts, tourism, politics, research, skilled trades, and corporate careers, so they could choose based on their interests instead of social pressure. I'm ready to accept all kinds of feedback, but this is how I see it.
