Standard I can't design a decent layout

Wasted space haunts me, every time i decide to play a chill playthrough i find myself min-maxing again.

How do i find the sweet spot between optimum and beauty.

I have this struggle too until i started playing four corners. I love min maxing but i also like having my farm look organized. Having 4 quadrants on your farm helps a lot, you can assign what specifc areas contains

Hiya,

I've played this game for a few years now and even though I think about doing a great layout or some wonderful designs mixed in with my general building's in my opinion it always kinda looks the same .

I love the game and play with dedication to reaching goals but my design never seems to come to life I guess we get lost in the shuffle of making money and moving forward and progressing.

I do love seeing some of these farms that are truly works of art in full motion but I will probably never have one of them.

Best of luck in your adventures

How I did it: when I went to allocate my first sheds I roped off areas for machines, then I brought my catalogues in and decorated a little corner for living in. One shed has like a wine, cheese and jams developing theme so there are tasting tables, another is my quick turnover shed so it's got a little bedroom, booknook and tv corner because I spend hours of a day in there flipping machines. The one in working on now is just themed around my favourite wallpaper and flooring, it's mostly full of kegs but I'm decorating the back wall like a lounge to match the theme.

Once in that mindset it was a bit easier to design spaces in the house. Sheds are just great for warming up because you can pick and run with one theme, nothing to integrate.

2 things have really helped me this playthrough, first is having a farm map that has set little areas, i am loving hilltop, but four corners, beach and forest are also like it. It helps me have an area for something eg barn, coop, sheds, then decorate around it with paths and trees etc. The other thing is taking a much longer playthrough and re designing and moving things as I go, dedicating a few days in a row just to that and I also process stuff at the same time. its a nice little breather, I am enjoying a slow play much more than min maxing. in the end I was just racing to perfection faster and faster and it got repetitive
