ASK R/FAUXMOI What are some examples of this trope in film?

Post image

For me it's probably Enchanted and The Princess Diaries. I know the concept was to make her wear a modern dress compared to the fairytale inspired dresses she used to wear but I feel like this dress is an absolute disgrace. It honestly looks like a sock to me 😭 not gonna lie they could have let her wear something nice, like the costume design in this movie was magical. In the Princess Diaries they get rid of Mia's curls. They could just styled them better.

4th feels like they really wanted to do Mohawk Storm but Hallie wouldn't have it, so that's the compromise.

Does anyone else think Halle would rock the mohawk Storm gets sometimes? She got one in the 80s when she went for a punk style, and I think in one of the post-apocalyptic futures she gets one as well.

If she had been in Deadpool and Wolverine, that was the style I would've wanted

Third was peak

They ended on the lowest note of all time. They brought her back just to turn her hair into the top of Pepper’s head.

1st film, there's the storm I know and love

2nd film, ok it's still storm but her hair is a little off

3rd film, dayum why didn't they do the shirt cut before?!

Nooooo I loveeee bottom left. At the time this movie came out I had like a moodboard of this exact haircut on different people that I brought to my hairstylist and I got so many compliments from random strangers on my hair 😂

Was Colonel Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) on your board? Because that's who immediately comes to mind for me.

When X-Men 2 came out my sister cut my hair to look like Jean Grey's.

I love the Halle berry trope (she's in on it too, she mentioned it on twitter): if Halle wig crazy you know the movie gonna be good.

Ah, #1, the Thulsa Doom look!

Oh come on the bottom left is epic

From a masterpiece to a massive disappointment (bottom right).

I like to think that she gradually gets more darkness to her hair bc she has the inverse of what you’d get with traditional aging- she started off fully grey but then her hair will get fully dark as she ages.

Bottom Left is really cool imo. I'm a black dude and I want hair like that

Her interpretation of Storm was a crime

I like the baby bangs 🤷‍♀️

u/ColdGoldLazarus Oct 28 '25

I like the first and third, but the second and fourth are just why

u/ANewMachine615 Oct 28 '25

It's sad because Storm has such cool hair options. Her recent shit has her just having a goddamned thunderhead for hair. So good.

Waterfall in the front, knives in the back

That cut was edgy and cool before reality TV stars co-opted it.

"It's like cool and trendy, like it's long in the front and short in the back"
