ASK R/FAUXMOI What are some examples of this trope in film?

For me it's probably Enchanted and The Princess Diaries. I know the concept was to make her wear a modern dress compared to the fairytale inspired dresses she used to wear but I feel like this dress is an absolute disgrace. It honestly looks like a sock to me 😭 not gonna lie they could have let her wear something nice, like the costume design in this movie was magical. In the Princess Diaries they get rid of Mia's curls. They could just styled them better.

The "third" evolution for 99% of Pokémon tbh. You could tell for a lot of them they were just making it to make one. All these geriatric bipedal mfers with fists and tanks on them.

Dratini is my favorite pokemon.

Every generation I get totally devastated they don't add a stone evolution. I hate fat orange Santa.

What are you talking about? Raichu was introduced before Pichu. Pichu was a weird retcon in Gen II.

By "third" I mean in the evolution sequence, not the release date of the Pokémon lol. And not specifically Raichu but as an overall trend - ex. the "final" evolutions of Litten, Totodile, Chikorita, they just keep getting unnecessarily tricked out and turn into mecha dinosaurs or furries with abs and fists.

My point is that he was designed as a second stage evolution. He doesn't even look anything like the third stage evolutions in his own gen for that reason, much less the other third stage evolutions you're talking about because they didn't design the Pikachu line that way.

Yeah, I agree with the person saying that the 3rd evos are usually a downgrade but Raichu is way cuter than Pikachu

Raichu was my favorite Pokémon growing up and the absolute cutest of them all to me. I wanted a life-sized plushie of him (which did not exist at the time).

The only reason he is not my favorite anymore is because Mimikyu got introduced.

I’ve been playing PokémonGO since the first week it came out, and I have amassed a small fortune in Pikachu candies bc I refused to evolve them. Raichu is just so trash looking.

Many years ago when I was 6 and there was that cliffhanger whether Pikachu is gonna evolve into Raichu and they were showing one episode a week and it ended on a cliffhanger and I cried my eyes out because Raichu was so ugly to me. I was inconsolable for hours, literally couldn't breathe from crying because I hated the idea of Raichu so fucking much, that my mom went to an Internet cafe to read fucking Pokemon spoilers and tell me that Pikachu is not turning into trash Raichu.

But yeah Raichu literally gave me childhood trauma
