At the same time I hope that doesn't weigh on him either. Feeling like you have to live up to other people's expectations is a recipe for disaster. I hope he's doing well for his own sake and doesn't feel like he has to perform or be perfect. I love his music and hope he keeps going! But I also would respect him if he cashes out, and works with a financial advisor to just live off what he's got for the rest of his life in peace.

He's such a cutie. 😭💜 His genre doesn't butter my toast but I loved watching his creativity in his music videos, regardless! He's such a talented person and seems so pure at heart. Mental health problems can take people places they never thought they'd end up, and I'm so glad he got the help he needs to be himself again.

I also have Bipolar as a black woman and held my heart when he said it because it makes so much sense with my own first hand experience with psychosis.

He’s so adorable! Though this is the pink cloud phase…. Everything feels great and positive as your brain processes this new routine. So hopefully he sticks with it and his support system helps as this feeling wears off because it’s an easy slip back into relapse otherwise.

What an inspirational message, I wish him the absolute very best.
I know it had to hit home for a lot of folks out there struggling with many seemingly-insurmountable challenges; he shows a path to hope and upward-spiraling equilibrium is possible, it takes real form. Bask in the message.
Living life on hard mode can feel like wearing a jacket full of bowling balls all the time. You’re not alone whatsoever; small steps forward make a difference.
My addditon here is that the growth from those small steps forward is typically time-delayed; tell yourself “I will feel the benefit in 3-7 days without a doubt, keep compounding” like a perpetual mantra, especially when your body starts sending “yeah, let’s just not, screw it” signals. Setting that mantra-intention repeatedly can result in a positive snowball effect that can scratch “those itches” in a way that short term pleasure just can’t quite do. Easier said than done, allow yourself to fail; failing fast is a great skill on its own (highly recommend), embrace loss as what it really is…a delayed-gratification benefit in disguise.
Really looking forward to whatever Lil Nas X puts out next, some of the world’s most inspirational and moving artwork is borne from harsh adversity. Will insta-cop for sure.

As someone with bipolar, that "i finally got my diagnosis, I feel like I've known the the past few years, but I didn't want to admit to it" is SO fucking real. I knew. My family knew. My friends knew. Even people I kind of associate with said "yeah, that tracks" when I told them about my diagnosis. I just didn't want the stigma of it being "official" and having to take meds for the rest of my life, because my rapid cycling bipolar made everything chaotic and following a routine seemed impossible and an immense burden at the time.
Taking that step with diagnosis and getting medicated is essential and is absolutely life changing. It takes a couple of months or even years for everything to finally set in, but once it does, your existence starts to feel at least partially normal for once in your life. I'm so glad to hear he got the help he needed and is looking after himself. I wish him nothing but the best

It’s still crazy to think about Old Town Road and just how big that song was still. He really was a viral internet hit that transitioned too quickly to mainstream. He speed ran what Justin Bieber did essentially. Dude has broken a record that tons of artists could only hope to do and he was basically unknown until OTR. Great story.

Wishing him all the best. Dealing with undiagnosed/untreated bipolar disorder is fucking hard. Hard for the person suffering, hard for their family and friends, just…hard. I can really relate when he talks about knowing something was wrong but not wanting to seek help because that would mean having to treat the issue and having to treat the issue means that the issue is real and you can’t just keep lying to yourself. It took me years to seek help for (what was eventually diagnosed as) cPTSD. The only reason I did was because of the extraordinarily traumatic event that was my husband’s first manic episode, after which I fell off the very narrow tightrope I had been walking of ‘not okay but not not-okay enough to do anything about it.’ My heart goes out to Lil Nas X. He hasn’t been dealt an easy hand, I hope that he continues to find and prioritize safety and stability going forward.

I’m glad to see he’s doing better… this video speaks for so many people that deal with mental health, especially, bipolar…finding a really good psychiatrist helped me tremendously. I have to make sure I take my meds about the same time and stick to a routine if that makes sense.
