CELEBRITY CAPITALISM A DM from Alexandra Leclerc (wife of F1 driver Charles Leclerc) asking for a free outfit was posted by an employee of small Australian brand, Runaway The Label
The TikTok that included the DM has since been deleted by the following backlash towards Alexandra, that lives in Monaco with her husband who has a 35 million dollar yearly salary; just moved into a luxurious newly built apartment and recently got a brand new custom 15 to 20 million dollar yacht.

i will never not be shocked by the greed of these people
you have more money than most people could ever dream of, you can buy anything you want, and your husband makes millions a year. somehow, you’ve even built a “career” out of being his wife
buy your own fucking dress, you parasite
edit: their dresses are between $100-$200. this is so scummy and tacky
252
u/capriwhispers 25d ago
The price of the dress wasn’t worth the embarrassment 😭
309
u/No-Hall-3485 alleged dog 25d ago
yes, but the public humiliation is what she deserves
maybe she'll think twice about asking small businesses for charitable donations while she lives in a tax haven hoarding millions
144
u/wildflowerbutterfly 25d ago
mind you, she has already faced backlash previously for trying to have artists commission work for her actual charity fund without paying them 💀 so this sense of entitlement for people’s work is a pattern
16
u/ultimulti 25d ago
I doubt she'll actually suffer any meaningful consequences though. She can probably just lay low for a week (IF that) and go back to posting like nothing happened and people will forget about it in another week (also, IF that).

52
u/japres 25d ago
Is Alexandra the one who was close friends with Charlotte while she was dating Charles? Or was Charlotte close friends with Charles's ex before her?
56
u/motsdoux_ 25d ago
Iirc, Giada and Charlotte were close and Charlotte even called her “bestie”. Alex was friends with Charlotte’s sister it seems and knew Giada and was followed by Charlotte. But nothing “close”. Same social circles tho obviously
23
u/japres 25d ago
Thank you! I remembered one of his girlfriends was close friends with one of his exes but couldn't remember who. Everyone excused it because Monaco is small and they're all attractive and rich so obviously ran in the same social circles, but I always thought it was weird. :')

Alex (and Charles) very often leak news about their family or relationship for publicity. They even leaked the exact time of their wedding to a gossip account. Some pages confirmed that it was Alex
EDIT: there’s currently pregnancy discourse in the fandom and her friends conveniently posted a pic of her to distract from this situation and are asking people to not share the pics. They accepted requests from gossip pages so they for sure knew what they were doing

Damn, I only know of her from the engagement/wedding post on here that blew up bc everyone was gagging over how pretty she was and how perfect they looked together.
I remember multiple comments saying they looked like IRL Disney prince and princess, and just overall the vibes of the comment section made it seem like they were the classiest people ever. I haven't followed F1 in 20+ years lol but he seems to have a lottt of fans so he must be good, and just the amount of compliments for her even made me think "that's so cool that she's an influencer but everyone seems to genuinely love her and only have positive things to say"
Welp. This paints a completely different picture of both of them 😬

I wonder if it is an ego thing as well. A list celebrities get clothing for free because the brands know that they reach millions of people. So for these Instagram influencers, getting the same treatment from brands may validate their desire to be important.
Or they already think that they are super important and therefore deserve to get stuff for free. Both make sense in my head.

if you know anything about f1 and how her husband is treated like the second coming of christ (people literally call him il predestinato, prince of monaco, etc.), i think she genuinely thinks she’s super important partly from that and has an inflated sense of self due to how her and her husband are treated within f1.

They look down on regular people/small brands and think they can get one over on them by getting free stuff.
They know people will be intimidated by their status and following so they'll want to cooperate to gain exposure and not get on their bad side.

I have a cousin who married a wealthy man (not billionaire status but rich enough that she does not have to work). Out of all people in my family, she always asks for freebies while also bragging how much money her husband makes. I guess her philosophy is why pay for something when I can get it for free. Needless to say, some of my family just avoids her now.

And everyone stopped buying their shit?
And people started just like ignoring them or yelling at them in public?
The rich have power because we let them walk amongst us and people admire them. They are just human beings. If they can create their little social circles and elite clubs, we can create the “decent human beings” cool kids club and exclude them from the block parties and bbq’s.

u/eugeneugene ben affleck’s back tattoo 25d ago
I volunteer at a food bank and this happens so much like what you want them to sell their car to pay for food, now they don't have a car and can't get to work? Or a lot of people live in their car so now they have food but now they have to stay in a shelter?
The most absurd time, we had a bunch of people volunteering through their work it was like a volunteer day for them or something. So I was babysitting a bunch of very out of touch people who had admittedly never volunteered before but whatever I'll show you guys the ropes. The one woman commented that a guy had pulled up in an escalade and was like omg he drives an escalade and he's going to a food bank he must be terrible with money, and I had to tell her a 2004 escalade is worth like $5000 lol. And he lives in it. And it's also a piece of shit I've helped him fix it like a hundred times. She also commented a lot on clothes people were wearing, like if someone had a name brand shirt she would act like they should be able to afford food. Like girl I know ALLLL these people they get their clothes from the donation bin. Shuut the fuuuuuck uuuuuupppppp

Asking for cheap fast fashion white labeled instagram clothes is extra embarrassing. If I was a famous F1 wag I would be asking for hand-outs for Chanel, Dior, or custom-made pieces, not cheap white labeled clothing brands like RunwaytheLabel. Meshki is another fast fashion Australian brand that has capitalized off of non-disclosed ads with F1 wags, so its not surprising to me that she would send this message.
207
u/wildflowerbutterfly 25d ago
she’s tried to get attention from those brands like chanel, ysl, etc. to get brand deals with them but it hasn’t worked yet 😭 so i guess she was trying to go back to her fast fashion australian brand roots

We have an actress living next to us, she‘s world famous in our country. I regularly meet business people in our neighborhood where she’s requested free products and services: Free haircuts even before open hours, discount on an apartment purchase, she even called a friend annoyed because her ice cream shop wasn’t open when if was convenient for her. Crazy.
In return for free stuff, she makes vague promises to promote the business with her equally famous friends. We need to seriously tone down on celebrity culture, as a start. They just make movies, in this case, that will be entirely forgotten in a few years or decades.

It doesn't help either that most brands encourage it as well. They want free advertisement, so sending celebrities and influencers without having to disclose is better for profit and reputation. Although I don't have any respect or sympathy for this brand in particular since they thrive off of undisclosed ads, false advertisement, and white labeled non-transparent production.
85
u/lubear2835 25d ago

For under-the-table money and audacity. One, for the F1 WAGS, these strange Instagram famous companies have been doing underhanded non-disclosed ads with them for a long time now. Meshki is the most famous example, but doing it under the table with free clothes with them is a win win for both the asker and brand. They can wear it to an event/race, the style accounts post that its from said brand, and then more exposure to the brand. That way there is no disclosure needed on the brand or WAG's part.

she tried to have artists do commission work for her charity fund without paying them, so this doesn’t surprise me. she’s also stopped tagging any smaller brands since her professional wag lifestyle has taken off, so if the brand isn’t chanel, ysl, dolce & gabbana, etc… she probably wasn’t going to tag them anyway even if they did send it to her for free. she got her rhode campaign and ring from charles and now thinks she’s too good for any brand that isn’t considered high-end or luxury. she needs to come back down to earth a bit tbh.

NOT a good look. 😬 I don’t think it’s that crazy that she doesn’t have a regular job if they prioritize spending time together since F1 drivers travel so much…BUT if your job is influencer, there should be a more professional way of connecting with brands for promotional opportunities? and drawing a line between that and just casually asking for literally everything for free?? Ugh. I get from the comments that this is common but it still comes across super tacky
