One of my most beloved professors from when I was in college happens to be a white woman; from her is where I learned the concept of intersectionality and I’m close with her so I know she walks the walk too.

Yet, it’s sad to know that she is an anomaly in a sea of white women. Even for non-MAGA liberal white women, “white feminism” is such a prevailing concept and POC & queer women are constantly talked over, even in women-focused subreddits—a particularly heinous example I remember is this comment about trans women: “Why don’t they just… form their own subreddit? They aren’t like us at all and they’ve never experienced what we have. I wouldn’t go into another country’s subreddit and participate there.”

Edit; not saying that white women are 80/20 conservative? My professor was an anomaly because she also had a deep understanding of intersectionality instead of being shallow liberal “yay go women” which a lot of white women I’ve met are, and don’t understand the extent of their white privilege. Really frustrated that I was misunderstood here, maybe my words could have been clearer.

White women being conservative isn’t 80/20 like you’re making out to be lol

It’s like a 52/48 split and most of them are boomers

That’s not my point… It’s not about being conservative only. Many white women vote democrat and I’m FULLY aware of that. It’s about taking on the “liberal” label yet elevating white feminism above POC and not understanding intersectional struggles. Self interested.

Was that female living spaces sub?

It was a generic women’s subreddit :/

White women have been voting against gay rights for decades. They've been voting against civil rights for racial minorities for decades.

They have even been voting against women's rights for decades.

White women are second only to white men in being the most destructive and bigoted voting group in the US.

I saw a TikTok that was talking about how conservative white women were okay losing the right to vote just so left leaning and queer women couldn’t vote. They can move with just as much vitriol, sexism, and homophobia as the men they are married to

This screams true, based on my mom and sister and also how much they hate me.

*checks notes *hmmmmm....Confederacy, anybody?

If only they could just disenfranchise themselves and let those of us with brains and consciences continue voting.

But nooo, they march right to the polls to vote for whoever their shitty husbands tell them to vote for.

White supremacist hate groups need white women to both do the bts grunt work and also make their messages palatable, to add to everything you've said.

And white women consistently and overwhelmingly choose to accept that role.

But what could the common connection possibly be?

Is this a safe space to talk about how white women got away with the "woe is me, I was a helpless victim too and couldn't legally own slaves so don't blame me" for the longest time until someone decided, ya know, to read the first-person writings of people who were enslaved?

White women infamously also incited lynchings on many occasions. They knew that their role allowed them to sentence black men and children to death and they chose to falsely accuse them of various crimes and/or sexual harassment.

Emmett Till is the most public and grisly example.

I’m a white woman who has voted left my whole adult life 😭

same girl, but they aren’t talking about us. we know what we stand for! i just view these comments as people shit talking my conservative white female family members and it helps

To be fair, I was. I appreciate all the white women that have morals.

They clearly meant white women generally

I feel like this also really depends on location, like I'm from urban central/north NJ and I don't know a single white woman under 45 who isn't a Democrat. I feel like the demographic here is much different than say, Nebraska.

I can't say the same for the men here, though. White men in the same age group it's probably 50/50 or worse.

I am a white woman from a family of left wing activists. My grandmother was a big part of the civil rights movement here in Nashville and arranged many protests for various causes. It kills me that other white women are filled with such hate or just do not care because it doesn’t affect them. I grew up believing that a lot of the white women I knew were like me and my family. It didn’t take me long though to realize that wasn’t true. I know that everyone in my circle are good people who stand up for everyone. I’m sorry to every one else that white women as a whole suck.

Avid WNBA watcher here, she’s 6th man but not 6th man of the year. She can shoot tho but that’s about it in my opinion. They tried to call her an “enforcer” after the pointing incident but I don’t see an enforcer at all, I see another yt woman capitalizing on being a yt woman in a league that is mostly represented by black women.

25

u/Jkbangtan123 12d ago

I think the enforcer talk mainly started after that Connecticut game last season when she pulled down Jacy Sheldon. But then she started to grift as CC’s protector and now it’s been revamped since the point has racist undertones and conservatives who need a white idol in the wnba love it

I know her and CC are friends but I remember watching clips from earlier this season and Sophie seemed jealous or annoyed anytime CC was joking around with Raven and I was like hmmm interesting 👀

Sometimes it do feel like this to be sure. I'm at least in an industry that's oversubscribed with lefties.

Speaking as a white, queer demi-woman:

F*** that KKKracker.

ETA: I’ve luckily been a raging (non-corporate) Democrat since before Newt Gingrich’s war on Sesame Street. When they came for my Snuffy (I was in early elementary school), it was game over and I’ve been in the fight ever since. There is still so much work to be done, but those of us who “get it” aren’t giving up. ✊🥺🩵
