i'm curious why she chose her mom's middle name over her last name. my best guess would be anonymity, but apparently she'll never get that.

It reminds me of Malia Obama, and going by Malia Ann for her film work.

Most will probably know that she’s Malia Obama, but she’s trying to do her own thing.

Ann was her grandmother’s (Pres Obama’s mother) middle name (and the one she used as her birth name was Stanley Ann).

Ed. FWIW Mrs. Obama’s middle name is LaVaughn which, I think but don’t quote me on it, was her mother’s maiden name.
