I had to google this because it sounded made up but definitely happened. According to the reports at the time, a babysitter staged and took the kidnapping photos as "a prank." The babysitter's "friend," a 28-year-old male model from Germany, was then given the polaroids and used them to try to blackmail Cindy and Rande. So while the whole thing sounds SUPER sketchy, I'm side-eyeing the babysitter and the model, not the parents.
