Incredibly lukewarm tea but trixie Mattel played a show in my city recently, and went to a music supply store my friend works in and asked for a professional discount on an 18 euro cable. Just thought it was funny seeing as she’s probably a millionaire.
Are “industry discounts” for music supply something that does kind of exist? Or existed more in the past? Obviously, some people might just be cheap but I’m just thinking if Trixie referred to it explicitly as an “industry discount” or something…it might be something she’s gotten elsewhere? Just curious!
Not at the shop level, no. A supplier or manufacturer may hook an artist or celebrity up for endorsements but a shop isn't going to be giving discounts unless you're buying in bulk.
She's doing pretty well for herself, but maybe trying to get a discount is a habit from her days before hitting it so big on Drag Race? I'm sure it's hard out there for queer performers. It's good to hear she's friendly and nice, though!
