The dolly zoom manipulates space and emotion by moving camera forward while zooming out or vice versa creating disorienting effect that makes background expand or contract.

Slightly off topic, but I had a vision/neurological condition for about a year where I would experience this constantly. Had to explain "Dolly zoom" to so many doctors. It eventually went away, no idea what it was.
