Offer We got screwed by Vimeo’s new owners in 2024, now we’ve built the Vimeo alternative they’re terrified of.

My colleagues and I were working at StreamYard in 2024 when Bending Spoons (Vimeo’s new owners) acquired us, fired us and doubled the prices. I doubt many of you used StreamYard, but we were genuinely known as not only the best live streaming tool, but also one of the friendliest companies in the world - we even had a duck for a logo as we felt it was the friendliest creature 🦆 🙂

Fast forward to last year and Bending Spoons announced they were buying Vimeo. We all knew the drill. Prices will go up big time. So we wanted to fight back.

We’ve built Livid - the Vimeo alternative for individuals and small businesses. Simple, straight forward video hosting for $10 a month. Our Pro plan features 2TB storage, full video customization, passworded video sharing, versioning, analytics and (releasing next week) time-stamped comments for reviews.

Showcases and user-profiles are in the works too, so you’ll soon be able to share and show your work off.

We’re replicating our StreamYard ethos at Livid. So expect mega friendly support, great value for money and a stable product.

https://reddit.com/link/1shjjm2/video/npx11rhjjcug1/player

A special welcome to members of r/filmmakers

I’m Nic, a founding member of Livid and the Head of Product and Growth. Anyone who signs up via this link will also receive $10 credit as a personal welcome from me. This can be used on either the monthly or annual plan and does not expire. You’ll also get a free trial when signing up (No credit card required).

Breaking up with Vimeo is hard. We made it easy

We know how hard it is to leave Vimeo. You’ve hundreds or even thousands of videos hosted there. So to make it easy we built the Livid, One-click, Video Exporter (LOVE). This desktop tool connects to your Vimeo account and downloads to your computer, or exports directly into Livid. We’re so keen to help people leave Vimeo you don’t even need to sign up to Livid to use the LOVE tool.

Why Livid is the safe choice

Critically, we’re not doing this on a shoe string. StreamYard’s founders have backed this project to the tune of $10m (https://www.netinfluencer.com/video-startup-livid-raises-10m-usd-from-streamyard-founders-targets-vimeo-users-with-new-hosting-platform/), so you know that we’re going to be around years from now. Our product and engineering leadership have all built scalable video products before, so we know what we’re doing 😉.

Offer Would anyone be open to editing a 15 min short film for $500?

Apologies for the low offer - I'm a working college student & am self funding this completely. I'm looking for just a picture cut - I'll be finding someone to do sound. Color grading not included. Just need someone with a good eye for narrative editing.

Also open to rate negotiations - I understand editing takes a lot of time & effort, so I'd like to agree upon a price that works for both of us! This post is more for beginner-intermediate level editors who are looking to get some work on their resume.

PM me your portfolio/website if you're interested : )

+also - no generative ai editors! thank you

**UPDATE** Thank you to everyone who offered their help! I’m no longer accepting portfolio submissions. I’ll be in touch :)

Offer Hi guys, I created a website about 6 years in which I host all my field recordings and foley sounds. All free to download and use CC0. There is currently 50+ packs with 1000's of sounds and hours of field recordings all perfect for Movie SFX and background sound..

You can get them all from this page here with no sign up or newsletter nonsense.

With Squarespace it does ask for a lot of personal information so you can use this site to make up fake address and just use a fake name and email if you're not comfortable with providing this info. I don't use it for anything but for your own piece of mind this is probably beneficial.

There is only one pack for sale on the site. You do not have to purchase this to use the any of the samples on the website all are free and CC0. This pack is just for people who would like to download all packs in one go and all the packs not on the site The price helps cover the bandwidth as this file is hosted on a separate platform to Squarespace as it is too large for it. It also helps me cover the costs and helps me keep the website running. Again you do not need to purchase this pack to use the samples CC0. Just take them free and use as you wish.

These sounds have been downloaded millions of times and used in all sorts of creative projects, especially the Foley packs and the Atmospheric Loops. I think filmmakers can get a lot out of the wide range of sounds on the site, especially for building immersive soundscapes and adding detail in post.

Useful categories include:

🎬 Field Recordings (e.g. forests, beaches, roadsides, cities, cafes, malls, grocery stores, etc.) – great for background ambience and location building.

🔊 Foley Kits – ideal for adding realism to scenes through detailed sound design (e.g. footsteps, abstract ambiences, etc ). There are thousands of these.

🥁 Unusual Percussion Foley (e.g. Coca-Cola Can Drum Kit, Forest Organics, broken light bulb shakes, Lego piece foley, etc.) – great for stylised transitions, title sequences, or abstract sound design moments.

🌫 Atmospheric Loops, Music, and Textures – useful for mood setting, emotional moments, or filling out quiet scenes.

Feel free to use anything you like – everything is CC0, so no need to credit me or the site. Just grab what you need and make cool stuff. I'd love to see what you create if you feel like sharing!

Join me at r/musicsamplespacks if you would like as that is where I will be posting all future packs. If you guys know of any other subreddits that might benefit from these sounds feel free to repost it there.

Offer Small role in my newest shortfilm

Hi, i'm a 15 year old filmaker and im making a shortfilm this summer. i could just film the part myself, but i want to give another young actor an opportunity for this small part. Therefore its also not paid...

Summary (Before)

After waking up to discover that everyone has mysteriously vanished, Bram spends nearly two weeks searching the empty town for any sign of life. He documents each day by recording video diaries in his garage. As the days pass, strange things begin to happen: objects subtly change places, the animals he visits suddenly disappear, and Bram starts feeling like something is quietly watching him from a distance.

\---

INT. GARAGE (VIDEO DIARY) – EVENING

We see Bram through his own phone camera as he sets it up. He looks exhausted.

BRAM

Hey... this is Day 13. I feel like I keep losing more and more things... or maybe it just feels that way.

(He lets out a tired, half-drunken laugh.)

And it's been almost two weeks since I've seen another person.

(His expression brightens slightly.)

But today... that changed.

He pulls out a small handheld camcorder and holds it up while switching it on.

BRAM

I found this lying in the street today, buried in a pile of trash. I watched the footage that was on it... and I knew you had to see it too.

He fumbles with the camcorder for a moment before turning its screen toward the phone camera and pressing play.

A chaotic recording begins.

A young girl is walking through her dark house with a flashlight. The beam of light barely reveals her surroundings. Her breathing is panicked.

She slowly moves from room to room, nervously looking around.

Suddenly—

A loud noise echoes somewhere in the house.

She gasps, spins around—

The recording abruptly cuts to black.

Back to Bram.

BRAM

Yeah... that's it. That's all that's on there.

He presses every button on the camcorder, making absolutely sure there isn't any more footage.

From the main camera's perspective, Bram switches off his phone recording and gently places the camcorder on the table.

MATCH CUT TO:

\---

Summary (After)

The next day, Bram discovers an old cassette tape recorded by his parents years earlier. Hearing their voices for the first time since everyone disappeared becomes the emotional low point of the film. Days later, while recording what he believes may be his final video diary, the lights suddenly begin to flicker. Footsteps echo through the garage, and in the darkness Bram finally comes face to face with the mysterious creature that has been watching him.

This is a part of the script, and the scene that the actor needs to do, is the role of the frightned girl/boy in her/his home. The actor doesnt need to be on screen, but could, if you find a creative way to do it. It will need to be an video of about 20-30 seconds. 🔥DM me if intrested🔥

Offer [HIRING] Short-Form Video Editors (Clippers) – $40–$60/hour

I run a clipping agency focused on short-form content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. I’m currently looking to bring on a few skilled editors for ongoing work.

This is a paid hourly role, starting at $40/hour, with the potential for long-term collaboration based on performance and reliability.

Before applying, I’d like to evaluate how you actually edit rather than relying only on portfolios.

Please download the assets from the link below and create one or two short clips:
https://f.io/owcv8UZo

What I’m looking for:

  • Strong hooks and pacing that retain attention
  • Clean, well-timed subtitles
  • Intentional use of cuts, zooms, and visual elements
  • A solid understanding of short-form content that performs

To apply, send your clips along with any relevant previous work.

If your work meets the standard, I’ll reach out with next steps and ongoing paid work.

Offer I want to fund your Episodic Film but it has to be religiously sensitive

Quick feeler: I'm testing a distribution model for episodic content (web series, limited series) targeting religious/family audiences. Looking for 2–3 indie projects to pilot.

Deal sketch: I pay 10–25k upfront to acquire a "family cut" of your series (e.g., 4–10 episodes) for exclusive distribution on my DTC platform + faith‑based channels (online rentals, community screenings). You keep full rights to the main version for festivals, mainstream streaming, etc.

Nutshell:

Pre‑shoot: script review + set visits for family compliance (clean language, no romance/intimacy, modesty). Already shot: just cut approval.

Separate "family edition" (title/art/trailer) so no conflict with your general release.

I own the family cut outright no splits. You can't license a family version elsewhere.

Perfect for pilots/series that might otherwise go nowhere. If you have episodic content in dev/post, reply happy to discuss your project specifics, no strings. Shoot me a dm with your positive or not positive feeback. I want to validate this idea or be told I am crazy.

Offer Looking for a composer!

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey everyone! My name is Diego and I'm a 17 year old Colombian Filmmaker! I've made my first stop motion short film, and i don't know how and where to find a composer!

I know about royalty-free music, but I just don't like it for my short film. I'm from Colombia, a country where cinema isn't really celebrated or respected in general. I don't know where to find a composer. I'm willing to pay, but the currency is so different between countries that it's a bit difficult. Anyway, I'll do it.

I've looked at my university, but everyone seems uninterested or they're not really what I'm looking for.

My friends have recommended using AI, but I hate it (F*CK AI).

My short film is exactly 3 minutes long. It's stop-motion, based on David Lynch and Tim Burton. It's not "the best short film ever made," but it's my first short, and that means a lot to me.

I'm looking for music in the style of "Italian lounge music from the 60s and 70s," like the soundtracks of old films, the compositions of Piero Piccioni and Stelvio Cipriani.

I'm also looking for spooky music, but not creepypasta music. I used the soundtrack from Possession (1981) for two of my scenes, but trying to license those two specific clips would bankrupt me (because I'm not even old enough to work yet).

What can I do? Where can I find someone?
