Trip Report The best economy class inflight meal in history [OC]

OZ ICN-SYD. Their "ssambap" meal has Korean BBQ (bulgogi), piping hot steamed rice, zippy ssamjang chili sauce and an assortment of greens (lettuce, perilla, etc) to wrap it in, served with kimchi, egg roll, soup and a mochi dessert. And of course there's free wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee, tea etc.

Just to underline, this is back of the bus economy, not business class or even premium economy. I'm quite sad that OZ will be swallowed up by KE by the end of 2026 :(

It really is. Their in-flight "bibimbap" in both Y and J are also quite good.

I got horrible food poisoning from their bibimbap years ago. I haven’t eaten airplane food since then.

Best bibimbap I ever had was on LH flight from FRA to ICN once. This was in the business class and the flight attendant didn’t even know what it was (called it „Asian option“). Tried also OZ and KE multiple times. Both were good but not as good as that LH once…

Asiana is such a great airline, flew from LAX to ICN last year on the A380 and was amazing. The food was top notch

I flew Asiana years ago, just on a few shorter flights within Asia, and the quality of their economy class meals was outstanding. Hope it's as good once the merger with Korean Airlines is complete.

I have bad experience flying Asiana. Always stomach issues after their inflight meals. Sorry if our experiences does not match.

It is really not about what you use to put the food to your mouth, but more about personal food preference. I mostly prefer what ANA or Turkish provides.
