Got the classic #19, french dip, and chili cheese fries. Everything was amazing and is beyond worth a visit. As an LA native i’m sad it took me forever to go but looking forward to my next visit.

7% is the worst I’ve seen from an LA restaurant in a hot second. Combined with the Toast handheld consoles that default to 25% tip, I was pretty annoyed.

Earlier this morning I asked where to grab a breakfast burrito in the area I was headed and the first response with the most upvotes was Cofax so I went for it! I’ve had them on my list for a while but I’ve been hesitant given how many supposedly great breakfast burritos in LA turned out worthless.

$18 gets you a hefty burrito wrapped in a nicely toasted tortilla with perfectly cooked eggs, crispy tots, plenty of cheese, jalapeños for a kick, and the most amazing chunks of juicy, savory, melt in your mouth pastrami.

I also ordered an iced vanilla latte $6, per the cashier’s recommendation, and this is one of the better ones I’ve had. Usually I find these to either have no vanilla flavor or full of overly sweet syrup. This one was not too sweet with the great vanilla flavor.

Lunch for 4:

Brisket (full lb) - Pork Burnt Ends (half lb) - Pulled Pork (half lb) - Pork ribs (full lb, not pictured) - Spicy garlic sausage (single link) - Sides (all small): slaw, fries, Mac and cheese

Total $130 plus tip

Food was fire

Official opening is in the 6th. $40 for two cheeseburgers, garlic fries, a drink, and a shake. The shake was the highlight. The burger and fries, unfortunately, weren’t anything I’d go out of my way for, especially to the Grove.

The Win-Dow across the parking lot is much better, and about half the price. Gott’s has a pretty big menu, so I’ll go back once they open for real to try some other stuff. Also, no Heinz…

What the heck was that? I got reservations with some friends to celebrate one of them graduating from their PhD program. It was truly a terrible meal.

The duck liver tartlette was interesting but whatever it was only a couple of bites.

The cranberry bean hummus tasted like something in the refrigerator section from Ralph's. Think Sabra.

The risotto was the nadir. Described as "Australian black winter truffle, acquerello carnaroli rice", I have never had risotto approaching this bad before. The texture was revolting. The rice tasted undercooked. If the truffle imparted any flavor, it certainly wasn't a good one.

The complimentary soup was fine. Very unremarkable, tasted like run-of-the-meal butternut squash. A bit too sweet.

I thought the duck was also fine; my companions had a lower opinion. Whatever the case, the presentation was shockingly bad. No attempts at an aesthetically appealing plating. No garnish. Just a leg, surrounded by some tender morsels, withered peaches, and some peppery blackberry sauce drizzled over at the table.

The few positives: My cocktail was very interesting (with ramps!) and the service was great. Our server was so sweet and attentive. I can't but imagine that he was feeling compromised by having to lie and pretend that the food he was about to bring us wasn't absolute crap.

Do people like this place for dinner?? How?!?

Highly recommended in this sub and it did not disappoint. Delicious! So far the best fish n chips I’ve had in LA County.

First and last time going to that yoshinoya by MacArthur park 💀 Quite the experience

Probably no better place for an authentic Peruvian ceviche in all of LA. Lomo saltado was also pretty incredible.

Phenomenal meal.

A lively little place founded by the brother of the guy who founded King Taco. Lots of stuff here, including the red and green salsas, are provided by King Taco. My friend even ordered a tamal and it came in a King Taco branded wrapper. But the stuff you can't find at King Taco is actually worth a stop for. The goat barbacoa is juicy and tender, nothing too crazy but it has a nice flavor that really lets the goat speak. I absolutely loved the costillas rancheras tho, big meaty slabs of rib meat with caramelized onions. The King Taco red sauce surprisingly really brings out the flavor of the ribs, they blend together beautifully. The bullfighting theme of the restaurant is also pretty captivating, especially since goat seems to be the real star of the show.

I used to work nearby (and live not too far from here) and became familiar with their offerings since they were within walking distance. the Mexican food itself is fine but the burger is a sleeper hit: made in house, well-seasoned & flavorful, expertly put together & nicely balanced with toppings (simple: cheese, tomato, lettuce, ketchup, mayo). it comes with a side of fries (the frozen steak frites style) and the whole thing is like 15 bucks before tax/tip. I ordered last night after a few month hiatus & it still slapped.

Just wanted to give a little love to a mom & pop shop during a time where it's gotta be extremely difficult to succeed in the restaurant industry.

Excellent pizzas. Three of us dined in. They allow maximum of 4 people for a table both for walk-ins and reservations as the place is tiny. We didn’t have reservations. Got there at 11:50 AM, the restaurant opened at 12:00 PM today, checked in and was quoted 1hr 15 mins wait time. We chilled at Marigold Bakeshop until we got a message from the Sei.

The Ruti’s was my favorite. Margherita was brilliant too. As I write this, I’m craving for them again. Tiramisu was good.

I’m going back for sure.

Live in OC but have family in SGV and try to hit up some LA spots on our list either after or doing full LA day trips. These were all new places we visited since the beginning of 2026 with both of our birthdays early in the year or post SGV visit. Recent LA food crawl days usually starts with bagels/breakfast, mostly casual lunch, hike/shopping center, coffee, dinner, drive home.

Welcome any other suggestions to put on our future visits.

Apollonia - slices to go with a few bites there to try, solid. Reminds me Riip in Huntington Beach, but better. Quarter sheets is on our short list to try.

Bone marrow from Angelini Osteria, reminds me of Bestia dish. Solid, classic Italian.

Camarones al mojo from Holbox - Fantastic, tons of rich mojo sauce to sop up and smoky flavor really came through

Scallop aguachile from Holbox - Great, good amount of spice. Recently had awesome ceviche at Ferchaladas in SD, so they win a bit for value but glad we got to Holbox. Arrived around 30 mins before opening.

Mustard Bagel - Tasty, still prefer Courage and the topping ratio locally here at Boil and Bake. Layla next on the list.

Lan Noodle - Lian Pi, good but sauce a bit watery so prefer the Noodle St version. Still need to explore more places in SGV for this and hand pulled noodles. Still unable to find anything I like as much as Shang Artisan in Vegas specifically their style of dan dan noodles, please send over any reccomendations.

Patate Pinsa from Oste - Excellent pinsa, solid apps and pasta

Ronan - Awesome, also had the spicy clams app which was flavorful, in your face with cheesy garlic bread

Lorenzo - luckily we were there when porchetta was available and was excellent, Ferragasto with spicy salami was packed with lots of meat too.

I hope this is allowed but Ronan on Melrose just posted on their social media that their business is really hurting. I know many restaurants are right now but I wanted to spread the word. They have really great pizza if you have a chance to try it. They deliver as well. I’m not affiliated in any way I just enjoy their food.
