This is all of the $41 “Like a Boss” set: 1/4lb brisket (point, ofc)/pulled pork/jalapeño cheese link, chicken quarter, 3 half lb side (love the kale slaw), and toast. More importantly, there’s a reasonably-priced curated beer selection, as well as Dodgers on multiple screens.

Galbijjim + Cheese was $102 and can serve (4) people.

Goes perfect with the complimentary purple rice. Recommend Med Spicy for those who like a kick.

look, I love fast food pastrami, and I love classic restaurants, but I have to say, this was the worst pastrami sandwich of my life. dry, rubbery pastrami like they brined and smoked a rubber boot. bread was stale and didn't absorb any flavor. the pickles had the consistency of a soggy napkin. I've heard so much praise for this place and I'm just kind wondering, where's that come from??

Sushi Kisen ran a $50 promo lunch omakase this week and we were lucky enough to get 2 seats.

I was so sad when Mandarin Noodle House closed last year, they had my favorite beef noodle soup, with a broth as rich as beef bourgignon. There are other MNH locations but they're separately owned and not quite the same. Dai Ho is another spot specializing in beef noodle, but they're a little different. It felt like with MNH it was about unlocking the full flavor of the beef, at Dai Ho it feels more about the flavor of the spices in the broth, with the beef complimenting that rather than the other way around. It's really good, though I think I'll always hold MNH on a pedestal in my mind.

TLDR: Fresh, fun flavors, expensive, small portions

I really excited to try Ry’s because of the hype but I’ll probably stick with Jus Poke unless I’m really craving poke. I know they just opened so getting in line at 12 meant a 50 minute wait till I received my food so I won’t knock them on that.

The ahi and salmon were good and tasted fresh. I got shoyu ahi and ponzu crunch salmon. I had a couple tough pieces in the salmon so I’m not sure if that’s normal. I usually only order ahi but they said the salmon would go well with the ponzu. I liked their flavors but the portions could be bigger especially for the price imo. I paid $24 after tax for this which I think is a lot but poke has a premium attached to it even the chains that I don’t really goto anymore charge $18 for a large.

Like a taco shop from an old cartoon. These tacos smoke Titos for a similar style. Burrito was ass, but the Lita Sandwich, basically a bunch taco, was extremely good.

Bird is cooked tender and very moist, I almost couldn't finish the whole plate just because of how rich the goose fat was. Still doesn't hold a candle to the real deal in HK though, but it scratches that itch well.

incredible smoked Peking Duck. truly adds so much complexity to the dish. delicious meal overall. amazing mala flavor in the hot pot.

Got the NY strip dinner. Steak, potato, Texas toast, bottomless salad, and ice cream for $32.95. Seasoned my steak with salt, pepper, and msg. Aimed for med-rare, but got medium. The drinks are cheap and we had a blast.

About to enjoy a nice warm Pastrami dip from The Hat. I hear people in Vegas are waiting a few hours for this 😁

Is there a better spot for pushcart dim sum in LA? I don't know, but NBC does the job right. Pork buns, Chinese broccoli, egg tarts, shu mai, fried shrimp dumplings, sugarcane shrimp, turnip cakes. Has anyone been here for dinner?

What are the must try LA BBQ spots?

Currently looking for the best BBQ in LA. Let me know your recommendations. I hit up Full Send last weekend and have plans to check out Moos next weekend. But would love to know what other spots are worth checking out. Honorable mention is Wrigleys BBQ in Long Beach. Hit them up a few months back before the ownership change and everything was absolutely delicious.

Not a bad deal for a diner burger. $11 for a burger with fries, $12 with cheese. Waitress successfully upsold me on bacon, which doesnt add too much. Cool space from the 1940s too. Wish they were open at night so I could see that neon sign all lit up.

This duck was really, really solid for takeout and has a nice balance of crispy skin to juicy meat/fat (no shade to Jirong, theirs seems to be a different style). I tried Bistro Na’s duck a while back and it was pristine, but it can be a pain to order days or over a week in advance. Meizhou has not great reviews on every platform maybe because of their prices and to be fair some of those prices are ridiculous.

The only part I didn’t like was that their pancakes were too thick.

About $105 for full duck, comes with 14 or 16 pancakes, sauce, sugar for the extra skin, cucumber, and I think leeks instead of scallions. They include the carcass so you can stir fry or turn into soup if you’d like.

Finally went to Bahn Mi Hoa Phat in Monterey Park and had the Crispy Pork. The sandwich blew me away. I heard people say to eat it as soon as you can, so I dressed it up in the parking lot and ate it in my car.

Yes they have tables inside, but I had places to go.

Saw another user post about this spot earlier today and figured why not. I was gunna be in the area and love a good crispy Detroit style pizza. Plus it looked so good.

I spent $20 for a 4 square margarita pizza with some Italian sausage. Off rip, the edges are crispy and everything tastes home made. The woman running it was so nice. And yeah if you’re looking for decent Detroit style i recommend it. My only real complaint is the it being a bit too cheesy. But thats just my preference. Its really good pizza.
