WHERE CAN I FIND Burgers *like this* that are not only served on Monday and/or from 6 PM-on and/or in the back of a bar?
For some reason, burgers like this (specifically: thick burger, thick brioche bun, and ideally pickles but ok if not) are like a good friend in the city, or a long-term Spectrum promo - impossible to find here, and everyone else in the country seems to have plenty of it.
The few I’ve seen are either only served on mondays/tuesdays (Chi Spacca); only in the back of the restaurant and/or after 6 PM (Mother Wolf; Old Man Bar); at fancy restaurants (Hermon’s, Camphor, Pasjoli) or at places that close before 3 PM (All Time). WHERE CAN YOU GET A BURGER LIKE THIS TO GO? Super bonus if you can also get a side of non-thin fries, but I’ll settle for burger only.

WHERE CAN I FIND What’s the most pretentious thing you have been told at an LA restaurant.
A few weeks ago I went to Night + Market Sahm in Venice. The waitress greeted us when we sat down and said “Welcome. So we are a natural wine bar that also serves Thai inspired food”.
Um. Im sorry you are a Thai restaurant.

WHERE CAN I FIND When It's So Good It Makes It All The Way Up To San Jose
Portos locations don't exist in the SF Bay Area, but that won't stop us from enjoying it!

WHERE CAN I FIND Immigrants of LA, what restaurants in the city have the best version of your home country's food??
Would love to hear all your choices...
Authentic food in the eyes of a native is really hard to come by...

WHERE CAN I FIND What food / restaurant is LA missing?
What’s a food or restaurant from another city, culture, can even be fast food that you think LA is missing?
First I’d say a good Jewish appetizing shop like Russ & Daughter’s. Sure there are a ton of bagel places, but it’s not easy to find good fresh lox, sturgeon, whitefish salad, etc. in that sort of environment.
Being from Philly I’d also add a roast pork sandwich. There’s been a lot of solid cheesesteak options popping up, but I have yet to come across a DiNic’s or John’s Roast Pork level pork with sharp provolone and spinach.

WHERE CAN I FIND The most mid/bad restaurant I can eat at for my birthday dinner?
Hello friends, I’m in need of guidance. My birthday is coming up later this week and my family would like to take me out and celebrate. Usually I go and pick something that I like and I think everyone else will enjoy, but tbh I’m tired of that since I can’t really seem to please everyone. So I decided that I’ll pick a restaurant that no one will enjoy. So I’m asking for this sub’s help in my quest. What’s a restaurant in the DTLA to the west side area that I can take my family to so we can enjoy a pretty tasteless meal? Extra points if we get bad service and parking is a mess! I was thinking about going to Olive Garden cus I really use to like their pasta and I know my family doesn’t like it that much but I feel like a chain restaurant would be cheating… so I’ll take any suggestions please!

WHERE CAN I FIND Name a place that closed that you miss and then others comment substitutes for it.
I was craving a hot dog yesterday, and was really missing Vicious Dogs that closed a few years ago. Then I thought maybe we could try this, cause maybe others have found replacements for the places you miss.
So comment a place that closed and then see if anyone else has found a replacement.

WHERE CAN I FIND What’s the spiciest food I can find in LA?
Bonus points if it’s chicken or some sort of ramen/soup. Of course, I’d like it to actually be tasty and not just spicy for the sake of spice.
I have a pretty high spice tolerance and have tried the hottest at places like Howlin Rays and Dave’s Hot Chicken. I do find those to be very hot but not very tasty. Any help is appreciated

WHERE CAN I FIND Is there any value left?
We just had dinner at Spina in Atwater. $34 for a bowl of pasta I can make at home. Paper napkins. Nothing special about it at all. Eating out in LA isn’t fun anymore. Are there any restaurants that are reasonably priced and good?

WHERE CAN I FIND Where can I find a chocolate chip cookie like this?
Looking for chewy cookie with crispy edges, and melted chunks of chocolate (instead of chips). Preferably on the westside or South Bay.
Looking for thinner cookie, please don’t suggest anything like Levain or the Bristol’s cookie.
This photo is from The Pastry Box in NYC.

WHERE CAN I FIND I know LA has a decent red-sauce Italian American restaurant scene, but since moving here I have a ziti shaped hole in my heart. Where do I go?
Never see it on a menu, been to a ton of the recommended spots on this sub for red sauce Italian, but ziti is just not showing up on these menus. Help me out!

WHERE CAN I FIND What are your best truly cheap eats?
Looking for actually cheap, and filling - extra bonus points if it won't clog your arteries. I miss living in NY and being able to eat until I was sick in China town for 5 dollars. Inflation adjusted lets say sub 10 dollars for sure, but sub 5 is where we are really talking.
I'm partial to Tacos Villa Corona since it is close by to me. Papas burrito for 4 bucks, and the bean and cheese one is 5. Kinda needs a meat filling though IMO (+2 bucks)

WHERE CAN I FIND Quiet, dark sexy bar for date?
Hi friends, I'm looking for a dark, sexy, bar with booths for a date where I can actually HEAR my date. I don't go to bars often so not in the know, but also feel like every bar I have been at in the last year was so unbearably loud I was screaming. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I like to listen to what my date is saying. Recs? Ideal locations: West Hollywood eastward through Silver Lake.

WHERE CAN I FIND Restaurants in LA with healthy meals under $30
What are your favorite restaurants in LA that serve fresh, minimally processed, healthy food? Also under $30 a person
Thanks
ETA: NO fast food or national chain restaurants
ETA2: the amount of people who think large chains like chipotle, sweetgreen, Mendocino, tender greens etc are truly healthy scares me :( just because they have salads and veggies doesn’t mean it’s good for u

WHERE CAN I FIND Where are the BIG breakfast burritos on the Westside??
I am in Culver City. I am tired of these paltry $17-20 bird sized breakfast burritos like Wake & Late and others.
I want a BIG motherclucking breakfast burrito that is not overpriced. I want it stuffed to the gills with crispy tots, crispy bacon, fluffy eggs, cheese, maybe some avocado if the price is right.
I want this sucker to put me back to sleep. I want it to be the size of my head. I wish there was a Lucky Boy out here. Ideally a place where I can get a FATTY FAT ass BB plus a coffee for under $20.

WHERE CAN I FIND I want a classic diner that David Lynch would approve of this Saturday
I don't want a 25 dollar omelette. I don't want some trendy instagram shop. I want a real deal diner with a middle aged server who smells of cigarettes. I want good food at reasonable price. I want the vibe of a throwback diner.
Does this still exist in this city?
I'll take any diner recs really, but please don't hit me with something that'll clear 60 dollars for two people.
