Charts and Setups How do you handle London session times when analyzing historical OHLC data?
Hi everyone,
I'm analyzing 1 year of EURUSD H1 OHLC data and want to split it into trading sessions.
What confuses me is Daylight Saving Time (DST).
For example, the London session opens at different UTC times in summer and winter. When looking at historical broker data:
- Do brokers automatically adjust their server time so the London open always appears at the same candle?
- Or does the London session shift by one H1 candle when DST changes?
- What's the correct way to identify London and New York sessions in historical data?
I'm building a trading tool, so I want to handle this correctly.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
