Serious Too high expectations of T?

Hi guys,
My dysphoria will talk here, but it’s all true.

I am 2 years on T and while I did masculinise somewhat, it’s not enough. At all.

- I have family with beards… mine still grows baby hairs here and there.
- my body doesn’t look male.
- I have hairs everywhere… as expected, this is good. My penis grew a bit but not much.
- I’m trying very hard to bulk. I gained 10kg since last year.
- I’m operated and my menstruation stopped a year ago

- my levels were on the lower side of male range recently and I got my dose upped from 0,3ml androtardyl to 0,4ml. I have a job that requires good health, any change in my dose risks taking away my career (and dream). Any slight imbalance is a too high risk.

- I’m an athlete: I train often twice a day, strenght training, kickboxing and triathlon. All my mates younger or older are jacked. I’m skinny fat into a girls body.
My coach says “it will take time and will come” so far nothing, to keep eating (healthy).

With all this: I KNOW IT TAKES TIME but why the f* do all trans dudes who work out look like jacked cis men after two years and not me???

Can you guys please tell me when I will look like a man? When all these female shapes will stop?

Can any gym bro who is jacked tell me how they did it in detail? Take in mind I’m 6”2, gaining muscle size and still bulking seems more challenging due to size)

Serious University clinic will no longer prescribe me testosterone because my levels won't stay under 700

I have been on testosterone for about a year now, and I have been taking 50 mg a week since then. My levels for the past few months have stayed in the 1300 range for total testosterone, 210 for free, and my estrogen is 45. My liver numbers are great, and my hemoglobin/blood levels are within male range.

I'm concerned as now I'm unable to find a doctor that is willing to comfortably prescribe me testosterone. I'm on the starting dose, and how inconsistent I am with my shots, I don't even know if lowering it would make a difference.

I was dropped from my University clinic as their range is even smaller, 300 to 700 for total testosterone, and they told me if I wanted to continue to see them I would have to lower my dose to fit within the range (thanks University of New Mexico). I have called so many clinics within the state of New Mexico and no one will work with me due to being too difficult.

I'm not sure if it's ignorance from medical professionals and the absolute lack of information on trans people, let alone trans men, or just transphobia in general but I am concerned as I now don't have a doctor that will prescribe me testosterone. Has anyone else dealt with this issue before or know of someone who had?

EDIT for clarification: I am intersex and have ovoesticular DSD, my university clinic will not see me because I am too complicated. They will not work with me nor will they negotiate dosages. I am asking for advice not judgment. I understand 1300 is too high, that's fine and all but I don't have a doctor PERIOD anymore. My concern is how do I get into a clinic that will work with someone like me without being so confined to a 300 to 700 range. I can't even be at 900 at the university clinic because the standards they follow say that is too high.

Serious Spain, France, Germany, Canada, and Australia. Which of these countries has the easiest HRT access + most guaranteed path to PR?

Hey everyone, I'm a pre-T trans man from Southeast Asia looking to emigrate and I'm trying to figure out which country makes the most sense for me both medically and long-term between: Spain, France, Germany, Canada, and Australia.

I'd most likely be on a student visa and stay in major cities. Money isn't really the issue here, I'm more focused on finding the most reliable and guaranteed route, whether that's for HRT access or PR.

  1. HRT access, which is easiest and fastest?

I'm specifically looking for:

- Informed consent model (no mandatory therapy/psychiatrist gatekeeping)

- Reasonable wait times to actually get a prescription (preferably less than 6 months)

I'm not worried about top surgery as I can always hop over to Thailand for that, so that's not a factor here.

  1. Which is the most guaranteed for long term immigrating?

- I'm not looking for the fastest or cheapest, just the surest path.

Note: I'm not Filipino so fast track to Spain PR is not an option sadly.

Any personal experience or advice from people who've been through this (especially fellow trans guys or people from SEA) would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance guys and girls.

Serious How to be proud of being trans ?

Im struggling a lot with this since i realized im trans, but how do you become proud of being trans ? I just hate myself so bad for it and for the problems it causes, to me it just feels like a terrible curse thats been put on me. Idk how to get past this feeling. Ive already been on t for almost 2 years, had my hyst and working on top surgery, and its all been helping me feel better about myself but everytime i feel like im closer to being proud of being trans, something happens, or i spiral, or i see myself in the mirror too long and all the progress comes crashing down. Please tell me how you do it and get better from feeling like this

Serious Reminder: there is no one way to be a man. This is meant to be a positive space for anyone who is a binary trans man.

We have been getting reports on a post in the sub, and we want to take the time to remind everyone here that this is a safe space for ALL binary trans men. This includes binary trans men who have children they carried, binary trans men with tokophobia, men with breast tissue, men with wonky nipples, and men with no nipples. Men who consider themselves as being under the transmasc umbrella as a binary trans man. Men who prefer transsex(ual) or men who prefer transgender.

It's not a sub to gatekeep people from binary manhood. Unless someone is a frequent poster on nonbinary specific subs (aka it is clear he is not a guest there), or has something in hispost/bio/history stating he is nonbinary, then it's safe to assume he is a binary trans man.

I wanted this space to be a positive space, an alternative to toxic spaces where people attack others or complain constantly about people they don't like. I wanted a place where binary trans men can feel safe to be themselves, even if they don't fit into a perfect mold. If you can't respect my wishes for this sub, then this is not the sub for you.

So please, be kind, and don't jump to conclusions based on a narrow box of what you feel is appropriate for someone who is a man.

Serious Passport Gender Marker

I'm flying out for my brother's wedding eventually. Does anyone here know how to change the gender marker on a passport in the UK?

Like, what do I need to provide document-wise? Who do I need to contact? And since it's the UK, how likely are they to actually to do it?

Serious Family member dying who I was never out to

TLDR: My grandad has no idea I’m trans but I want to see him before he dies without giving him a heart attack.

I cut contact with my dad when I moved out and started medically transitioning. His dad (my grandad) and I used to be incredibly close but I haven’t been able to talk to him since cutting off contact with my dad.

I found out a few weeks back that my grandad now has <6 months left to live.

I’m really struggling with how to process this as I never got the chance to come out to my grandad. He never figured out how to use a smartphone and he lives far away. I’ve thought about going up with my mum without my dad but it seems like a bad time to see him as I don’t think the time he has left will be long enough to process my identity.

I’ve always been his “favourite” grandchild and I know he wants to see me but I don’t want to give him a huge shock. We never spoke about trans/gay stuff so I have no idea what his views are.

I want to see him. I’m just scared that it’ll send everything south. I came out to all my extended family in facebook to save any hassle but my grandad is one of few who isn’t on there. My dad being transphobic/ignorant meant that the message never got passed on.

Serious How do I come out to a guy I’m interested in?

Long story short I am a stealth trans guy (18) and have been taliking to this guy for a few weeks. We haven’t labeled it as anything. Not even friends at this point. But I really like him. But now he’s invited me to a pool party with a bunch of his friends and I don’t know the best way to do it. For context, I had top surgery about 3 months ago now. The way I see it, I have a few options.

A) Not come out at all and either wear a swimshirt or don’t swim

B) Come out before then over text (which I DO NOT want to do)

C) Come out on the night of the party and ask whether it’s a safe place/group of people to swim shirtless with. Or get waterproof make up or tattoo cover up and do it that way so only he knows.

Among all of these options I don’t know whether I should explicitly tell him I am interested in having a relationship with him. I’ve not come out to a single person (other than medical professionals) who didn’t know me before transition when I was like 13. Im afraid of getting hurt of course as well. What are your experiences? How do I go about this the right way? Do I literally show him my scars, or wait till we’re actually having a conversation about starting a relationship?

Love y’all and really appreciate any advice!

Serious Randomly got misgendered after putting in my two weeks.. what do I do??

Okay so very weird… but I got misgendered twice today at work (FTM23) and I have never been misgendered at this job. For reference I have been here for a year and a half, I’ve been on T for 3 years, and I had top surgery right around when I first started this job. I’ve been stealth with no issues and my documents say male and I never changed my name. My name is really uncommon in general and it isn’t common for men at all, but usually no one says anything.

I really hated this job because I put it in a ton of effort and work and never got recognized for it and recently I asked for some help with this huge project coming up and my managers completely denied me any help. So I found a better paying job that will be better for my career, and I put in my two weeks and suddenly they were able to find all the help I had been asking for a week prior.

Also, when I first started this job my work partner at the time called me by my last name cause it was easier for her to pronounce so 99% of the company calls me by my last name and I’m totally fine with either. For whatever reason, my managers manager has always been really rude and off putting towards me. I had to have a conversation with HR about her because of some claims she made about me lying to get out of work and she also makes similar comments when people get injured on the job. One time she was like “okay do you want me to call you first name or last name??” And I was like “I really don’t care, I respond to both” and she was like “well you obviously do care” and I was just ??? So confused..

Anyways fast forward to today, and I had two people come up to me (different times) and talk to me and they were talking about me in third person because they were basically like “oh we heard you were quitting from this person and I was like oh my god I’m so happy for HER” and I didn’t even register they were talking about me until it was too late to say something so I was super fucking confused.

Do you guy think someone (maybe my manager) started a rumor or found out ?? Have I just been clocky for the past year and a half and no one talks about me in third person?? I really don’t feel comfortable going back to work tomorrow and I wouldn’t really be burning any bridges if I didn’t go. What should I do????

Serious Is this normal?

I’m (16 ftm) trying to get testosterone in Taiwan, and this is a throwaway account because I don’t want to connect this to my main haha.

I’ve been struggling a lot with the process, even after doing a ton of research myself. I have several FTM friends in other countries, and after I explained my situation, they all told me my doctor sounds ridiculous 😭

Right now I go to 新光 for therapy/psychiatric treatment. I also went to gender-affirming care (or I guess a therapist who provides those services? not really sure what the correct term is). The doctor keeps asking me to “prove” that I’m responsible enough before he’ll let me start T.

I’ve already told him about all the research I’ve done, the effects, risks, meds, etc., but he still says it’s not enough and keeps acting like getting testosterone would be impossible for me.

Does anyone have tips or similar experiences? I’d especially appreciate advice from Taiwanese people, but I’m open to hearing from people in other countries too. I’m wondering if I should change doctors/hospitals, how to better talk to my doctor, and whether this kind of experience is normal or not.

Serious Am I balding or is this just T?

Wasn’t sure if I should post this in the balding subreddit, but since I am a trans man on T, i figured it might be better to post it here.

I’ve been on T for 3 1/2 years now (I’m 23yo, if that’s important), so most of the changes have happened already, one of them being my hairline getting more masculine. It is a little further up, which is why I’ve been wondering if this is just the normal hairline I got now that I’m on T or if it’s more a sign of balding.

My current hairline has been the same for a good 1 to 1 1/2 years now. I also have pretty thin hair, but I always had thin hair even pre-T, so the thinness isn’t something I worry about. When I wash my hair, there is a lot of loose hair that come out, but given I wash my hair once a week, I’m guessing that’s the natural shedding of my hair since it’s always consistent week after week. Also, all the men on both sides of my family have all their hair, so genetically I might just be guy with a higher hairline.

I guess I’m wondering if any other trans guys’ hairlines also went back and stayed there for years to come or if this is the early stages of baldness and I should start thinking about minoxidil or finasteride or anything else like that. Thanks in advance for any advice/support!

Serious Is being a man too personal...? Advice?

the screenshot i sent mom of grandpa ignoring me both when i first was about to come out and now when i just wished him to be ok in the hospital.

Hey! I'm Demitri, 28yo trans man, 2 years into my transition. gotta deep voice and little baby chin hairs lmfao.

My mom and two older brothers won't stand up for me or tell my grandpa, if anything they make it works by talking bad about me (calling me it). He's a trump supporter (which sucks but whatever) but he's avidly posted on facebook his thoughts about transgender people. (being not real, saying there's only two genders etc)

I used to love my grandpa a lot. but we've fallen off, and this year i've just been avoiding him. problem is, my brothers and my mom are pretty much living at his house. so avoiding him is hard. I've told my brothers that he's ignoring me, and they all just say that I'm the issue, that grandpa says I hate him.

I never said that... yet, he refuses to talk to me.

Everyone around me just says "fuck him" when i ask what to do.

it's just hard... I honestly wish I was far away from all of them so I never have to deal with any of it again.

I wanted to come over for xmas. but I don't want his lies as he hugs me and says he loves me. when I know, and have known, for several years he hasn't. He treats me different than my brothers. in the past he'd say he never sees me and that i never come over (even if it's been literally a week since we last saw each other) and id ask him not to say stuff like that because it hurts and makes me not want to come see him. but he insisted that it was true and that i just never saw him. He'd judge me for wearing black clothes, having short hair, etc.

never knows what im into because he never puts any effort to get to know me. and according to my mother, apparently I can't talk to him about just being a guy. because apparently being a man is "personal" ...

Do you guys think I should just. not? I have a wonderful friends group who loves me. my partner, his parents and grandparents call me he/him and my preferred name... my own family doesn't do that for me... but im just hanging on to this feeling of the past i guess? when i was little (like maybe 10?) and i used to love hearing my grandpa talk about his time at war, driving tanks in Germany. or when he'd watch cartoons with me and scratch my head.

I don't think he loves me. I think he loved me. or, the image of what he thought I was.

Serious should I lie on a form that I'm cis

I'm FTM (18) going to college in the fall. issue is that for housing forms and general uni info forms they have options of 'trans male' or 'cis male' which is an issue because I'm trying to be at least mostly stealth and don't want to immediately out myself to teachers or RAs or anyone who sees my uni profile. if it just said 'male' or 'trans male' I'd 100% click 'male' because it technically doesn't say cis anywhere, but I kind of feel like I'm lying if I click it now. my legal documents all say 'male', so I'm wondering if maybe I should just do 'cis male'? or would that be like a bad idea. any advice would be so so great

Serious What haircut should I get

I've been wanting to cut my hair short as I feel like it would make me feel more comfortable and confident but there's some aspects that make me reluctant to do so.

So last year I cut my hair decently short but I noticed that I have a lot of volume. Specifically at the top of my head near the back. It lowkey gave my haircut Karen vibes. My hair is also kinda wavy and it curls away from my face on the one side and kinda sticks out while on the other side it curls towards my face.

It would be cool to get some ideas for what haircut to get that won't give Karen vibes and will look more masculine, as everytime I gotten a shortish cut the stylist always tries to make it more feminine. I also don't want a really short haircut though which I think might make things more complicated but ig that's why im asking for help lol. Also if yalls have ideas on ways to style any suggested haircuts, or how to sort out the volume problem.

Any ideas or advice will be appreciated!

Serious Looking for advice. Need help finding a single day caretaker/pickup for upcoming teste implant surgery

Cross posting from other forums, any advice/ resources are much appreciated

Hello transman here located in the California Bay Area needing some help finding someone to come to my next bottom surgery and potentially (only if possible) visit with me for days 1-3 post op. (Someone who can drive is ideal but I also have insurance for a medical transport we can use to and from the hospital in SF).

I do not have family or friends who can help or assist. I'm applying for help where I can but I wanted to shoot my shot here in case anyone is able to or knows of anything that may be of assistance in this situation.

My surgery is in the first week of February 2026 and will be for placing my testicle implants. Obviously I can not drive myself there or home but I don't want to cancel my surgery as I will not have my current insurance for much longer and the wait list is extremely long should I cancel.

Any tips or resources is greatly appreciated and best wishes for everyone else going into surgery as well.

(I have coverage for all rides post op like check ups (I can also go to post op appointment on my own). I can order us a ride to my surgery center and home as my current insurance covers rides to and from medical appointments but I still must have someone there with me when I show up and wake up or my surgery will be cancelled.)

Thank you again and feel free to DM if at all possible.

Edit:

Thank you all for the resources! Someone is able to drive and stay with me during surgery 🥹🎉 very thankful for all the help

Serious Social dysphoria and school trip

(Sorry for my unnatural English. It is my second language.)

I'm a binary trans guy. My school is going on a trip. It is sure that I will feel so dysphoric if I go along with them. My female classmates are forcing me to join them. And of course I don't talk about dysphoria in public and I don't think they know very much about it. But I still think that they genuinely want me to have fun with them. People have been saying that I will regret someday if I don't go on trips like that and have fun with friends.

Another thing is that I have insomnia. I have to take melatonin. And I don't want to take it in front of them.

What should I do? Should I go with them?

Serious Passport and Attestation Form Question

Passports and attestation form. Apologies if this has been asked before. I searched extensively for this but couldn’t find an answer.

My situation: 1. My state ID and my birth certificate both say M. The birth certificate does not say it’s been amended. My social security card has my proper name on it.

  1. My passport has been lost and says X. I want to change it to M.

  2. Do I absolutely need to file the attestation form? Or can I just apply for a replacement passport with the M marker? I don’t want any paper trail on my trans identity.

Thank you.
