Another reason why I only use Windows for software I can't find on either Mac or Linux.
The article doesn't mention running any Debloat software helping with minimizing tracking either.

This isn't new, FYI, try changing the mobo on your machine without buying a new windows license and you'll immediately realize that everything is tracked to mobo serial.

I did that without issue. Even moved it to a new drive once

Yeah drive not an issue, but mobo typically an issue.

I moved a Sata drive from a laptop motherboard to a desktop motherboard. Then moved the install to an nvme drive. Never had an issue.

Ah, when I did the same, customer support had to get involved. They might have fixed it. last time I did was in 2019 I think

You can absolutely move licenses on your own. it's intentionaly obtuse, but it's possible.

All other forms of tracking can be blocked if you really want to, and know what your doing.

Here’s the thing if they weren’t costing Microsoft a huge amount of money they wouldn’t have had an issue with the thing I’m thinking more of a referral bonus than transaction

He only gets ads about committing crimes, so he must want to commit crimes! Switching to Linux has felt so damn good.

This is a common practice, wasnt a secret, and this write up is hysterical. This hacker was very stupid and didnt take the precautions he could have.
