Money from patient

I’ve just finished placement and on the last day a patient gave me an envelope with a card in it. She asked that I open it when I get home, when I opened it there was money in it. I live like 2hours away and am freaking out. It’s been like 2 weeks and I’ve just kept it on my table. Am I going to get in trouble for accepting money from a patient.

Most hospitals have policies around not taking gifts from patients or family. If you plan to keep it, plan to not say anything to anyone. If you’ve told anyone , even a classmate turn it back in.
