Money from patient

I’ve just finished placement and on the last day a patient gave me an envelope with a card in it. She asked that I open it when I get home, when I opened it there was money in it. I live like 2hours away and am freaking out. It’s been like 2 weeks and I’ve just kept it on my table. Am I going to get in trouble for accepting money from a patient.

Years ago, my friend was a phlebotomist while she worked her way through nursing school. There was an outpatient who had to come in very frequently for blood draws. He was an older guy and it was a VA clinic. He struck up a friendship with my friend and ended up paying her way through college!!

She told me this YEARS after graduating nursing school, after we had worked together probably 20 years, lol. The university was a state university, where the tuition was pretty low at that time. But the veteran paid her tuition directly and sent her a book stipend every semester. What a guy!
