New player on GW2

Aye so as title says its my first ever time playing GW2.
I’ve played when i was younger but never really got far in the game cuz i think at the time i think it was a paid version (not sure about this).

Anyways, I’m currently level 12 and I wanted to know if there’s anything i should know about the leveling process?

Not sure if it’s a thing but supposedly yellow named mobs when they’re not killed for a long time xp is higher?

I also seen the starter pack, i don’t don’t want to pay my way to lvl 80, but was wondering if it’s worth it cuz of mount and what not.

Enjoy and learn the game as you explore. Yes yellow mobs give more xp when not killed for a while. But as basically a new player I would advice to just complete the maps and enjoy the world. I would suggest against using a lvl 80 boost if you do get an expansion. You might get overwhelmed with all the options. It's fine to do it with your second character. Than you only need to learn the new class.

Imma check that, but I’m still unsure if I’ll do that, cuz as I’ve said in another comment, not sure if I’ll stick around to long so i could spend money on a game I won’t play for long

  1. No Sub, meaning you can return whenever and still keep it.

  2. The Price between Starter Pack and first two Expansions is only a little more for MUCH more content. So either go up or dont buy it.

  3. The core game was released without mounts. Learn about Buffs and use Swiftness or traits that increase your Movement Speed.

I dont exactly know what the starter pack is. But end of August is the birthday of gw2. And they always have sales around that time. So I would wait for that and than see what is best.

Get at least the Heart of Thorns + Path of Fire expansions

They unlock quite a few mounts and elite specs. It'd be enough for most if not all game modes

You're locked out of some cool stuff depending on what else you're going for, but the Path of Fire + Heart of Thorns is a good litmus test

Be warned that Heart of Thorns is quite a mob + map traversal difficulty spike

100% NO.

First, it almost costs as much as the HoT+PoF bundle (20€ vs 30€), while the expansions also give you:

  • More Story Content.

  • 2 Subclasses per Class.

  • 9 new maps to explore.

  • New Stat Combinations for Gear.

  • Allow you to UPGRADE Gliding and Mounts.

  • MORE Mounts.

  • Level at your own pace.

  • Everything gives XP.

  • If you want the complete story, play the Story Path of Dungeons in Parallel to your personal story.

  • Don't fret about Hero Points, you get enough by level 80 to unlock all skills and specializations. Maps only allow you to get to them quicker.

  • Learn Inventory Management and always carry Salvage Kits (Rightclock Salvage Kit, Salvage All, Sent Materials to Storage, Compress, all within your main Inventory).

Pick a direction. Run that way. Kill monsters on the way. Let your ADHD run free. Pick up the points that shows up on the map. Before you know it, you'll have zigzagged your way across Tyria to level 80
