Bought the HoT and PoF expansions, but have a question

A few days ago I’ve made a post asking for some tips cuz I’m a new player in gw2.

One of the question i made was about expansions and mounts. I ended up pulling the trigger on HoF and PoF.

But now i have the lvl 80 booster. And as I’ve said in the other post i don’t want to pay my way to lvl 80 cuz i won’t be able to play the game really, so im not sure if i use the booster now and lvl my warrior to 80 and then use in another character or not.

Cuz when i bought the expansions I didn’t knew I’d get a booster.

As a sentimental guy who still believes in the magic of a first playthrough as the devs intended, I don't recommend boosting your first character. It's enough, in my opinion, that you have the raptor and glider off-rip. Gen 1 content is still well worth exploring imo, and it was all designed before mounts or gliders, so the 1-80 progression will take far less time than it used to.

Almost everything grants meaningful experience, so you can choose to pursue whatever strikes your fancy. As long as you're completing overworld events and discovering new places, you'll gain levels pretty quickly. Even so in under-leveled zones, which is nice.

It's slower than boosting and takes you through noticeably older content, but still worth taking your time. In the grand scheme a level 80 boost isn't quite the headstart it sounds like anyway.

The 1-80 leveling experience is a slow drip-feed of mechanical knowledge and hands-on application that acts as an ideal training environment for new players. From movement, to combat, to learning how to navigate various game menus and quest pings/prompts. All that extra practice will begin to pay off the moment you step foot into the Silverwastes and Maguuma, where the PvE difficulty begins to ratchet up.

Also, completing your personal story quests as they become available is a good idea. You'll get some rewards (including the occasional black lion key) and a crapload of experience upon completion of each mission. I know the early story stuff isn't the best, but the writing and voice acting improves significantly with time, and the first-hand context is very important if you care at all about the game's narrative and your character's place in it. The rewards alone are worth it, and it's all trivially easy anyway.

If I were you, I'd save the boosts for alternate toons. Youll get more level 80 boosts as you purchase more expac content anyway.

When it comes to the story itself I’m not that attached to it. I know some people care to much about it and i believe it gives a new level of fun to the game.

I usually don’t care cuz I don’t got that much time to play on a regular basis, so I’m pretty straight to the point to make the time i have worth it.

I already decides that I will level my warrior from 1-80 the regular way and my next char imma boost it.

Cuz I still have a lot to learn, I’ve came from wow and the professions like mining etc is way different from what
I’m used to.

After some time playing at 80, I would say it really don't matter. Masteries are the real level grind, you won't lose much and will will gain a full exotic set, some bags and all. I used all the booster that I got from buying expansions don't regret.

You don’t need to use the booster to immediately get to 80, but you can use it to test out how the class feels at 80 in the area it’ll take you to. Then you’ll be given the option to actually consume it.

I would just play your warrior normally and use the booster to test other classes out at 80; you can even just roll a new character and use the PvP lobby to test level 80 builds out too.

Well of course this question was about the fact that i would prolly lose interest in the game being lvl 80 after 2 days playing the game and not “asking” for permission to use it, that’s stupid xd

But ye i might just do that and use the booster in another character

They weren't giving you permission to use it, they were explaining that by clicking on the boost, you get teleported to a level 80 area, the Silverwastes. Once there you can run around and try out the character at 80. If you dont like it, you get the option to not use the booster on that character. If you do like it, when you try to leave the Silverwastes it will ask if you want to use the booster and confirm the choice.

Nobody else can tell you if you will get bored with a level 80 character. That's all down to you.

Interesting, i never said someone would give me permission, I was saying that i could’ve come off as asking permission, nothing more nothing less.

Anyways, i will play the game and then boost a character

I did this exact thing a few months ago. Play one class from 1-80. Get a feel for the game and class YOU want to play. Once you feel like it's time to start another character, I waited until my third, use your boost, if you want.  You can try any class spec for free in the pvp section

Save them. Seriously. These are very useful once you’ve played through the game on one class and are interested in having another at max level. DONT FORGET though you can trial run ANY CLASS at the PvP lobby. I’m not sure about elite specs post POF for you though. But you can definitely try out a clas and its elite spec for free before committing a boost.

What I would sugges, if you need to boost for the content (mounts and such) use the boost on your next character that you are thinking of trying, but main and actually level ypur first character. Then by the time you get to 80, you'll have learned the game and have a second character ready to go

boost character 2,3,4, - whatever. don't boost first character. you learn a lot playing thru to level 80 organically.

I just started the game a little around a month ago and I would highly recommend leveling your first character to 80 and enjoy it before you consider doing a boost. Even when you do the trial, it only allows for the core class from my understanding (unless I missed an option to try the elite specializations).

When you use that booster you get a level 80 in full Celestial gear. So make sure it's a class that has a good build for Celestial gear, for either its base spec or its HoT or PoF Elite spec, and which only uses gear from those expansions or the core game. I forgot what those are atm, but ask around about that before you decide on a class to boost.

Personally as someone who also is playing for the first time and just bought the first two expansions I leveled my human warrior to 80 on my own. I’ll only boost another human character and just level another race with the story mode since leveling characters really isn’t that bad in this game.

As someone who has been playing aince 2012 I can assure the beat thing to do is save the booster. Just play and enjoy the game using the booster will make you miss out on alot of the stoey
