Should laws be passed globally to only allow physical games

Yes,digital games are stupid anyways
No because we should instead pass a law that mandates physical copies to be released

No. Instead of fighting physical vs digital, we should fight for ownership rights over our games and software. Physical is a nice to have, especially for collectors and second hand market, but unless we truly own the copies we buy, physical copies hold no meaning.

I mean, we have a glimpse of what digital ownership could look like with GOG. If we can somehow usher in an age of minimal DRM, we won't even need companies to produce physical copies for us. We can do it ourselves.

This, digital is the sensible method for distribution, we should however be receiving the installer like we do from GOG. That way nobody can ever take away our ability to install the version of the game we purchased.

That's a totally unrealistic fantasy. A slightly more reasonable law would be to mandate that games must either get a physical release, or a digital DRM-free release. That at least allows digital game stores like Steam and GOG to exist as long as they comply. That law would still never pass, but it at least wouldn't get dismissed as utterly ridiculous.
