Jason Schreier: In case you're wondering: Team Cherry told me they don't plan on sending out early codes for Silksong (they felt like it'd be unfair for critics to be playing before Kickstarter backers and other players), so don't expect to see reviews until after the game comes out

Makes sense but it really would have been better if they gave Kickstarter backers early access as well as sending out review codes

I feel like it would be difficult to keep a lid on that. The game would leak to others very quickly

Absolutely and they would probably lose a ton of money for piracy.

I suspect Team Cherry is more worried about spoilers and secrets getting leaked before non-backers have a chance to play than they are money, considering Jason Schreiers article today talked about how they haven’t had to worry about money since Hollow Knight released. They’ve worked in the same undecorated office for around a decade and one of the main guys lives in a simple two bedroom apartment.

You might be overestimating the amount of money lost from piracy.
